What a coward! I'm shocked at how selfish some people in this world can be. That child now has to grow up without any parents and the coach and gm have to live with seeing a man kill himself every day of their lives

It would be one thing if this guy died of natural causes or accidentally or something else tragic, but he's no hero. I don't see any reason to cancel or postpone the game.

Are you insane? He shot himself in front of the head coach and GM. How in the world do you even function 24 hours after something like these happened?

The scroll on the bottom of the espn channel makes me wonder if he was there to kill a teammate. Pure, speculation on my part.

The incident only just happened in the last few hours and the NFL will spend some time today making the right decision- consulting both teams, looking at what rescheduling options they have. Obviously Carolina needs to fly there in the event the game isn't cancelled. I wonder if it helps that neither team are making the playoffs and they could likely reschedule on wild card day? Rescheduling a game can be an incredibly difficult thing to do.

Really awful situation. Feel terrible for the Chiefs and those in association with Javon Belcher and his girlfriend.

Do we know this? Yes he thanked the coach but then he must have left the room.
Also how does he bring a gun into the facility?

All my post meant to say was that he never thanked them in the facility and left or thanked them and went to another location.

From ESPN, who's cleaned up their shoddy reporting from earlier, a bit:

Belcher thanked general manager Scott Pioli and coach Romeo Crennel before shooting himself in the parking lot outside the team's practice facility, police spokesman Darin Snapp said.
....

Authorities reported receiving a call Saturday morning from a woman who said her daughter had been shot multiple times at a residence about five miles away from the Arrowhead complex.

"When we arrived, a lady informed us that her daughter had been shot multiple times by her boyfriend, by the daughter's boyfriend," Snapp said.

Snapp said a call was then received from the Chiefs' facility.

"The description matched the suspect description from that other address. We kind of knew what we were dealing with," Snapp said. The player was "holding a gun to his head" as he stood in front of the front doors of the practice facility.

"And there were Pioli and Crennel and another coach or employee was standing outside and appeared to be talking to him. It appeared they were talking to the suspect," Snapp said. "The suspect began to walk in the opposite direction of the coaches and the officers and that's when they heard the gunshot. It appears he took his own life."

The coaches told police they never felt in any danger, Snapp said.

"They said the player was actually thanking them for everything they'd done for him," he said. "They were just talking to him and he was thanking them and everything. That's when he walked away and shot himself."

Thanks Browna.

There was no 'room' involved. This all took place in the parking lot at Arrowhead.

I am so saddened by the tragic events that transpired earlier today in Kansas City. My heart truly goes out to the loved ones of the young mother who's life was ended so violently. Also to the friends and family of the accused. To lose a loved one in such a horrible manor is tragic enough. To deal with the reality of their violent actions is another. It must be a very hurtful and confusing time.

I really feel badly for Romeo Crennel, Scott Pioli and any of the Chiefs staff who witnessed the horrible incident at Arrowhead. Regardless of what I think of their job performance, I wouldn't wish that trauma on my worst enemy. The emotional and mental scares of this incident will haunt them forever.

The Kansas City Chiefs have had to deal with tragedy in the past. From the sudden and untimely deaths of players Mack Lee Hill, Joe Delaney, and Derrick Thomas. However I don't think any professioanl sports organization has had to deal with such a horrific and tragic incident like the one earlier today.

Very, very sad day for the Kansas City Chiefs and all the families affected by this senseless act.

I would hardly call them a coach or GM but I think that the game should be canceled just because both teams have no effect on what will happen the rest of the season. Let the families grieve
