				 Christmas

While I was in the mall at lunch and they had carols playing.
So what are you thoughts on Christmas:
 Like itDislike itIndifferent to it.
I for one dislike Christmas. To be clear I enjoy watching my kids at Christmas, but I dislike the consumerism for the sake of consumerism.

I love the decorations and carols etc. If you can manage to avoid the consumerism as much as possible, it's a great time of year.
Christmas with Dino might just be dusted off this week!

I like it. It's the one time of year my whole family gets together & it's really nice catching up with everyone. With my new nephews & neices it's definitely more interesting. I love giving presents (I did get them books, by the way). And I love the fact that my company closes down for two weeks over Christmas & New Years.
People complain that it's a commercial holiday, and it is if you let it be. For our adult present draw we just give gag gifts or home-made gifts. It's more about the family & food to us. Love it & can't wait!

I hate consumerism of Christmas too. I worked retail for 6 years and I absolutely hated Christmas time. I didn't enjoy Christmas until I had driven away from my last shift before the Christmas break. Too much of the world is driven by greed and Christmas really brings that out. It isn't what Christmas should be all about.

My work gives me 5 days, plus the 2 stats, plus the weekends. That makes it a 11 day vacation this year... Whats not to like about that? We're gonna go to Houston and visit the 'rents, play some golf. I'll honor the birth of any deity if it gives me that kind of time off work.
Seriously though, it is always a great time of the year for us. The time with family, vacation gives you something to look forward to in the early part of winter. The awful part is when its over and you have the dog days of winter from jan-march.

I like Christmas but there should be a law against the music and decorations before December. Pretty bad when you're in the mall in the middle of November and they have friggin Jingle Bells playing.

I love everything about Christmas. Decorations, lights, presents, food, chocolates, family, friends, time off work. I could do without the whole religion part, but everything else I love.

It annoys me, especially the fake sense of pleasantry that many people adopt (if you're a miserable person, accept it year round and don't pretend to be happy for December). I also find that people seem more stressed around Christmas than at any other time of the year.

Agreed to both of these. One thing I want to add, is if I don't see you the rest of the year, and we make no effort to keep in touch or foster a relationship, don't pretend you care about how I am doing or how my family is doing. If you did we would speak/communicate more than once a year.

Christmas gets better and better as we jettison the vestiges of a dying religion, replacing it with cool toys, gizmos, and days off.

I get depressed around Christmas. I like to see other people enjoy it though.

I like Christmas. Well, not the financial part. I have already told my parents that I don't want any 'big ticket' items this year. Maybe a new sweater or something like that.
Actually, I would love a new shower for Christmas, but they're going to replace it in January anyway.

 Boxing Day is another story..

Maybe it's because my family doesn't celebrate it (and therefore I don't ever have to stress out about holiday shopping), but I enjoy the Christmas atmosphere. Something about it makes me all cheery inside. Heck, I even like the consumerism of it. I find it amusing. So the more commercialized it is, the better.

I like Christmas. For me it's the one time where family can get together for some food, cheers and lots of laughter. My brother flies home from Minneapolis for Christmas week every year and we often head to Castle Mountain to do some skiing.
What I loathe about Christmas is consumerism. Every year I have to rake my brain trying to find gifts for family members that have everything. I suggested a few years back that we just exchange cards and got the 3rd degree from my sister. Spending time with family is more important to me than some gift I may or may not like.

			Like:
- The food.
- Giving gifts (seriously, I love giving gifts more than receiving them!)
- The drinks.
- Snacking all day on Christmas.
- Being with friends and family.
Dislikes:
- The pressure to find the "perfect" gift (probably my own fault).
- People that spell CHRISTmas with an X (Xmas). <---that REALLY GMG!
- People that are not religious in ANY way that "celebrate" the holiday. Ie: used to know a girl who's family was atheist and they celebrated Christmas...what?
- The music, except when in church. I hate hearing Christmas music anywhere else.
- People that think they can wrap happiness in a box and give it away. "Oh this will make little Billy so happy, and he'll love me more!" Shut up!
- People (my mother in-law) who worry about putting on the perfect meal for Christmas, and then end up getting stressed out over the littlest thing. Sit down woman, and EAT!

^^^if i could thank this 1000 times i would!!

i don't usually enjoy christmas until the actual day. business is nuts right up to christmas eve with customers waiting to the last second to get stuff done. so frustrating!!

and as undercoverbrother already stated - the 'falseness' of people - it drives me crazy.
