St. Louis also developed in the NCAA, so I like comparing his path to Gaudreau's (though Sullivan became an NHL regular much sooner than St. Louis, so that is promising).
I think we'd be laughing if Gaudreau ends up as a copy of either.

For sure. I get where you're coming from.

2012 started off with three games in a row in January where Gaudreau had 0 points.
Since then, he has had at least one point in 29 of 32 games, and he has 48 total points over that stretch. He also has at least one point in every game this season.

I think Flames fans will get a lot clearer picture of how skilled Gaudreau is at the WJC where he will be in direct competition with some blue chip prospects.

Right, I wana see him against our D featuring the likes of Harrington, Hamilton, Reilly, Dumba, Poulliot, Murphy. That will be a challenge every shift out.
I don't think he turns pro next year, wasn't there an article where he said he wanted to play with the younger Gaudreau and he gets to BC next year?

Thanks for the link. What a terrible video format though. It's like watching videos online ten years ago.

I was going to say the same thing. Either all his teammates aren't that much taller than him this year, or he actually looks like the size of somebody like Cammalleri.

Gaudreau is 5'8 now and Cammalleri is only 5'9. The only real deficiency in size for Gaudreau now IMO is weight which he appears to be dealing with just fine.
I think Cammalleri might be a decent measuring stick when looking at production. Gaudreau's pace after 12 games is higher than the best season Cammalleri had with the Wolverines.

Looks like Sieloff again had a fight today after landing a big, clean hit ... only read this comment on HFboards though:
Something needs to be done with Sieloff having to fight every damn time he lands a clean hit. At this stage I think he should just skate away. I know I was pushing for him to have to stick up for himself, but he's more than proven he is willing now. It's time he just skates away if all the refs can do is give out an instigator - losing Sieloff for 5 minutes is bad for us, not to mention he might have a banged up hand and that could lead to games missed due to injury.

I also think if he fights 10 times, regardless of if he instigated, he gets suspended.
Stupid OHL.

People watching him play game in game out are saying Paul Kariya about Johnny Hockey.

I didn't go to the game today but this is so true. It's happened after every big hit that somebody goes after him. It's ridiculous they were all clean hits.

I know its early but I'm a little disappointed that Sven isn't doing a bit better than he has in the AHL so far. 16 pts in 18 games and #26 on the scoring list.
I also have to say that I'm blown away at how well Justin Schultz is doing. 28 pts in 18 games and #1 on the scoring list. Disappointing really.

Schultz is 2-3 years older, playing with bonafide NHLers, Eberle, Hall and Hopkins
Sven is playing on a line with Ben Walter and Dustin Sylvester

I wouldn't be too concerned last lockout such studs as Kyle Wellwood and Simone Gamache were top 5 scorers in their early 20's and Chuck Kobasew looked like a bonafide sniper.

Your disappointed that a 20 year old rookie is leading the best team in the league (to this date) in scoring?
Abbotsford is an extremely hard working team, but let's face it.. they lack high end offensive talent (outside of Sven). They are currently a middle of pack offensive team that relies upon an extremely structured system to produce victories.
I think your expectations heading into the season were a little far fetched.

yeah, the OHL has adopted a new fighting rule this season. Starting with your 11th fight, you're automatically suspended for two games per fight. Starting with your 16th fight, your team also has to pay a fine of 1,000 dollars per fight. Apparently this new system is working, as the number of fights in the OHL was down in October by 32 per cent in comparison to last year.
Yesterday's bout was Sieloff's 5th fight in 26 games this season ... you do the math. If he continues this pace, he'll have his 10th fight after 52 games. I really love the kid's tenacity and it's a shame if he has to "waste" one of 10 allowed fights everytime he delivers a hard, clean hit. I hope this stupid fight rule won't make him avoid those hits, it's obviously a big element of his game.

Outside of Sven, which player on the Heat roster has his raw offensive talent? That's what i thought. If Sven was playing on a team with Eberle and Nugent-Hopkins then he would be one of the top scorers in the league too.

I don't think this will be a concern, mainly because i don't think he knows how to play any different. Plus these rules will only dog him at the junior level. when he's wearing a flames jersey it won't be his problem.
As far as fighting after every hit is concerned, i really thing that's up to him. On one hand he may not want to get his hands dirty every time (ala Phaneuf), on the other hand maybe he likes fighting. If that's the case, throwing monster checks and then following it up by beating the crap outta somebody would make him one of the most feared players in the game.
