7-0 win for Providence. One assist for Janko, and another SO for Gillies (35 saves, so not a quiet game for him).

Gillies with a 35 save shutout and Jankowski picks up an assist as Providence beats Brown 7-0

Flames don't have any prospects.

Unbelievable. Gaudreau's such a beast.

Glad Janko got a point but in a 7-0 win I would hope for more. Didn't watch the game though and stats definitely don't tell the whole story.

Gaudreau is unreal I think he has NHL superstar potential I just love checking this thread and seeing his progress.

I think today was his first 5 point performance of college. Nice Milestone.

Jankowski is now tied for 17th in Hockey East scoring and tied for 1st on his team. I'd say this is the pace I expected from him.

Not that Jankowski will go the same path, but Gaudreau didn't get REALLY hot until after the World Juniors. So we'll see what Janko can do.

No he can't. He's Flames property until August 15, 2015.

I don't think that we really have to worry about that though. I'd be very surprised if he plays 4 years at BC. I think the biggest question mark on Gaudreau right now is whether he turns pro next year or the year after.

If he actually wins the Hobey Baker, I can't see him going back to BC next year.

Could Gaudreau be better than Sven?

I would agree and considering that he is 4th in Freshman scoring behind 3 guys that are one to two years older than he is, I am quite optimistic that he could be ripping it up later this year or next.

Right now? No.

But certainly he could end up being a great player if he makes the NHL and reaches most of his potential.

Even though he's more then compensated for his lack of height with his skill at every level he's played, I wouldn't bet on him better better than Baertschi, who would be in the NHL right now.

According to NHLE stats that determine how their output would translate to the NHL, he's better than Sven right now. But it's just a stat. I think they'd make great line mates.

Sven's on a point-per-game pace in arguably the second best league in the world, so I wouldn't say Gaudreau's better yet. However, to put up the numbers Gaudreau's putting up in the NCAA is ridiculous.

At development camp, Jankowski, Baertschi and Gaudreau were the most creative and poised with the puck. Several coaches and prospects mentioned how great those three were.

In my opinion? Yes.

Assuming both reach their maximum potential I think Gaudreau will be better. I personally see Sven topping out as a 1st line forward. Gaudreau has something else special about him though I think his highest potential is a perennial 1st team all-star and a player known for his clutch abilities.

Gaudreau's game is eerily similar to St. Louis. I'd argue he's the most skilled prospect in hockey. He's not the kind of guy that's going to get dirty along the boards, but he's able to skate down the middle of the ice, containing the puck, while 3 players try to check him. He's deceptively strong on his feet.

Still, he has a long way to go before making the NHL. St. Louis didn't really become an NHL regular until he was 24 years old, though he like Gaudreau, dominated at every other level he played before then. But Gaudreau's progression is promising. He's only 19 years old and dominating the NCAA, which has transformed into a much stronger league since St. Louis played.

Personally, I'm pretty much against all of the St. Louis comparisons.

Would I like him to turn out to be St. Louis? Hell yeah. But I think of Gaudreau as more along the lines of a Steve Sullivan-like player. A player that gets goals and assists in equal proportion. In other words, where St. Louis can put the puck in the net, he's more heavily a playmaker than anything. Whereas Sullivan was a good, balanced offensive player.

Maybe so, but I don't like always comparing players by looking at whether they shoot first or pass first. I'm just looking at the way he handles the puck, how he skates, how he creates his scoring chances, etc. Not necessarily whether he is more a goalscorer than a playmaker.

St. Louis also developed in the NCAA, so I like comparing his path to Gaudreau's (though Sullivan became an NHL regular much sooner than St. Louis, so that is promising).

I think we'd be laughing if Gaudreau ends up as a copy of either.
