Of course you can just not log in, but then you don't get recognized for that. Everyone recognizes a banned poster however, and they get discussed (see: this thread). If he just disappeared, not sure we'd even notice.

There has been a few people in the past to ask for his. Thefanblogger, JustAnother Guy, Ford Prefect, just off the top of my head. There are a couple more just can't remember the names.
I've never made sense of it. If you don't like it here, leave. But I have a feeling some people may ask for the ban before/after signing up a new account anyways.

Im not sure about that. I think when posters request a ban it is because they are fed up with whatever on CP. If they do come back I think it would be more like months later. Could be on a rare occasion if someone was getting picked on, or had said too much dumb stuff that they would do the register and request a ban, but I dont think its that common.
