Jeremy Roenick was on the fan today pimpin his new book and stated quite matter of factly that the Yotes deal with Jamison (and all side issues involved) will be finalized in 2 weeks....and he would have an inside knowledge of it all as well.

Roenick also said on the Fan 960 the other day, that it will never work in Phoenix unless far more fans pay far more for tickets.

Clark interviewed on revised AMF deal:

http://www.kpho.com/video?autoStart=...clipId=7978963

"Uneducated populace . . . Westgate was designed to be a three-legged stool".

"Jamison can buy the arena, the day after he signs the contract". Why on earth would he do that?

"AMF drops from $17M to $11 M". Well, for one year it does.

How is there not more outrage? If this happened in Canada where an outgoing council was making a vote of this magnitude, there'd be blood on the streets. And the fact that Clark is so vocal about it after getting soundly voted out for this very reason is baffling to me.

The general public should be lined up out the door on Nov. 27 to ensure that this vote does not happen.

That would be the biggest F.U. to the citizens of Glendale if this vote passes. Common sense suggests they should let the new council deal with this situation. SCH is right; there would be outrage on an unparalleled magnitude if this happened here. Citizens down there should be up in arms over this; they will feel the sting of this for a very long time.

Clark would rather sacrifice the long-term financial well-being of the city that she lives in just so that she can watch a Coyotes game (with lots of available seating for her feet, to boot).

She must think that pushing this through will eventually make it work as part of the Westgate project, and everything will be 'great' in a year or two from now, and she will be fondly remembered for doing her part in it. It is her 'legacy'.

Perhaps she is blinded from the very likely possibility that this deal really sucks for the people of Glendale, and they seem to have had enough of it. Her 'legacy' might mean she becomes vilified and has to move far, far away from Glendale.

As far as I can tell this is going to a vote Nov 27th, and now Skeete is against the deal.

Scruggs wanted it shelved for the new council to consider. Knaack is the wild card.

Skeete wasn't AGAINST it, he was FOR it for the longer term. But couldn't recommend it in the short term.

I'd say it is more irresponsible to fix short term than long term.

Knaack is playing people, she will vote for the deal.

Glendale officials spar over Phoenix Coyotes deal

http://www.azcentral.com/community/g...html#protected

At a workshop Tuesday evening, City Council members had a heated debate about the proposed $320 million arena-management agreement with Coyotes suitor Greg Jamison. Ultimately, they decided to vote on the pact next week.

However, the interim city manager who helped renegotiate the pact said he would not recommend that city leaders approve it. Also, one council member did not say how she would vote on the deal.

On Tuesday night, Jamison said he is still prepared to buy the team.

“We fully intended to buy the team, but we are waiting for the vote and then we will move as quickly as we possibly can,” Jamison said.

While the Jamison deal may be in the long-term interest of the city, it would force Glendale to make steep cuts within five years, said interim City Manager Horatio Skeete.

It’s a “job well done, but we can’t afford it,” Skeete said of the city quest to keep the team.

Several new council members who oppose the current Coyotes deal, including Mayor-elect Jerry Weiers, have said they would like to get a chance to shape the proposal.

An uneducated populous? How insulting! Anyone that has read anything about Westgate understands that 'three legged stool' idea, but I suspect that much of the population are mad as hell that the city invested it's future on a three legged stool where the most important leg is getting an NHL team to thrive in Phoenix.

Excuse me folks... a thriving team in Phoenix was never more than a possibility. It could have failed... and if it did, it would bring down the other two legs and you're screwed.

The three legged plan was idiotic. The 'uneducated' city leaders had a meeting with some big time developers and were presented with a wonderful plan - and they fell for it. The developers built it, got paid and are now gone.

What a bunch of suckers!!!

There most certainly should be blood in the streets. If this was my town, I'd be raising hell - or moving...

We're seeing this more and more down here... BIG MONEY interests looking for the next big score. Large oceans of cash are harder to find than they used to be, but can still be found in small governments. No doubt, many of these little governments would love to make their mark by doing something BIG and perhaps get some notice and go on to higher office. They are gambling with other people's money. It's easy - it's fun - it makes you feel like a high roller...

Hypothetically, if the proposal fail to be passed by council, what date does the NHL announce that the coyotes are moving? Early in the new year, I would assume.

I wonder if they would use it (contraction) as leverage in the current negotiations?

When 96% of the side you're attempting to leverage will get richer as a result? (To say nothing of the hoops they've jumped through to avoid even relocating that specific example making the threat somewhat empty sounding). Doubt it.

You mean contracting the team as a reward to the NHLPA? Because that's the only way I could see this being leveraged. They're not going to hang it over the union's head as a threat piece for lost jobs, because the NHLPA doesn't care about the things a normal union does.
