Davis Cup day! We finally get to find out who gets to host Canada's tie against Spain.

Spain is also playing Czechs in the final right now on sportsnet

Man, what a brutal draw. Probably going to have to go back to relegation after the tie anyway, but it will be good to see the Canadians against the top players from Spain.

I'm assuming Nadal will be healthy by then?

Brutal for Canada losing but not for spectators seeing some of the best in the world play live. Who knows what Nadal will do I don't think he has even started hitting yet. Hopefully he comes because I would love to see him live but Ferrer would be just as entertaining.

You have to play the best to be the best.

I think Canada has the talent now to beat anyone in the relegation round so it shouldn't be a problem to remain in the World Group. Teams like South Africa are a joke.

Girly any insider info on what time Davis announcement is going to be made at? This waiting is killing me and I hope I don't have to wait until the end of the Milos vs Roddick match

The venues were determined today for 6 of the 8 first round ties next year.

Only Argentina and Canada have not chosen their venue yet.

Is there a hockey strike in Argentina too?

This is turning Into the coyotes sale will be finalized Monday non sense. Every Friday I get excited to find out where the tie will be and every Friday I leave disappointed. I am starting to think that if NHL cancels season until after the tie that Rogers centre in van gets the tie. If NHL doesn't cancel season mts centre gets it since they have the dates open regardless.

Winnipeg has made a huge pitch for the Davis Cup and rumours are very strong that's where it will take place. I asked Tennis Canada for a confirmation on the announcement. The reply was "soon."

wheeee I woke up just in time to see Ferrer beat Berdych in Prague to force a 5th and deciding match in the Davis Cup Final. Ferrer has been playing amazing the last month.

Stepanek against Almagro coming up to all the marbles! (Sportsnet ONE).

It must be tough for Nadal to be sitting on the sidelines for this. Hopefully he'll be ready for February. I'm a little selfish; I'd love to see him play in Canada.

somehow Stepanek is up 2 sets to 0.

Experience pays in these situations. The match is already 2:20 long.

That was pretty remarkable. Almagro hit about 100 unforced errors and the old man frustrated him.

So the Berdytch "weakest link" trash talk on Almagro actually worked? The tennis karma gods must be on vacation. I continue to hate Berdy for going down like a girl that time Almagro hit the ball into his arm, and subsequent handshake decline, even though he had won.

hehehe

The Czechs play as a team though. Berdych won all 7 of his Davis Cup singles matches this year until he lost to Ferrer. But when he lost, Stepanek picked up his partner.

Tennis Canada let the release go out early. It's going to Vancouver.

Calgary was the other host city considered strongly for the Spain tie.

Darn

Why would they go back there? So stupid.

Is it for Pospisil? He can't beat anyone anyways.

I was kind of hoping for a different city but I had a great time in Vancouver last year and I am looking forward to going back there again!
