Just hearing stuff from some players who used to be in the WHL the past few years, this isn't big news for them. One guy was telling me about the money spent getting Baertschi and Niederreiter to come to Portland, and was speculating that it was pretty obvious how Portland ended up with Seth Jones. All this was just bar talk but still, it doesn't surprise me that they might be in hot water, and I don't think it's a surprise to anyone close to the WHL.

Not long ago Howse and Wahl were considered pretty decent prospects for the Flames. They are awful numbers plain and simple. Especially for two players that were supposed to have NHL level skills.

Time to shift attention to the next, more promising round of prospects in the NCAA.

Wahl had a concussion that derailed his career. But he is close to a point per game in a professional league. Considering what was expected from him THIS SEASON he is not doing badly at all. You have to adjust expectations periodically.

Brossoit perfect tonight against the Russians. Blanked them in regualtion and stopped all 3 shooters he faced in the shooutout. Looked really good and he's been real good the last two weeks.

He did have quite the short offseason. Maybe he just wasn't able to prepare for the season as he normally does and didn't have the experience/maturity to prep in a shorter time frame. nonetheless, he's looking solid now.

Sounds like Brossoit is starting again tonight for Team WHL. Don't know if it was always the plan or if they want to get more of a look at Brossoit. Either way good news and hopefully he plays well again.

That was one of the best games I've seen Sieloff play.

Jankowski has a goal tonight in a 4-0 lead for Providence.

Gaudreau and Arnold each with an assist in a 3-3 game.

so he isn't a bust? I'm relieved.

BTW, Janko has an assist as well. Gillies with 16 saves so far.

Culkin has an assist so far as well.

This is the best I've seen Jankowksi play. The Friars are simply dominating Northeastern.

Culkin now has 2 assists as Quebec and Shawinigan are tied 2-2 midway through the 2nd period. Culkin now has 3 goals and 16 assists in the middle of his 20th game. Huge offensive jump - he had 6 and 19 in 60 games last year.

Deblouw with an assist tonight, he's got 11 points in 11 games.

We keep being wowed by Gaudreau and Arnold being point-per-game players in the NCAA, well we've got another one in Deblouw.

Another assist for Janko. 1+2 tonight, so now 4+3 in 10 games (2nd in team scoring, one point behind defenseman Myles Harvey, who has 8 assists). 6-0 Providence ... Gillies has 18 saves so far. 13 minutes to go.

EDIT: there goes Gillies' shutout bid. 6-1 Providence.
