Apparently Hamas has launched hundreds of rockets into Israel over the past year.

So really, not sure what they expect to happen. Israel has rightly/wrongly, always defended themselves if they saw a threat.

I don't see how this ends very well for anyone over there.

Are you trying to say Hamas is not a terrorist organization?

Actually it's something like 1,200 rockets since January. 130 in the last day or two

Both Hamas and the Israeli government needs to be kicked into the sea. This thing would have been solved very long ago if it wasn't for the loonies on both sides.

I still can't get over the pro palastine from the media in EU, Iceland is so pro Palastine and anti Israel that I get into some very heated discussions here in Iceland.

What makes you so sure of that? You could put the Queen and Ghandi in there and they wouldn't be able to solve this mess.

Yitzhak Rabin was assasinated by a right-wing Israeli in 1995 after signing the Oslo Accord to further the peace process. There are nut jobs not just within the government, but within the civilian population that make this situation almost impossible to resolve.

According to media reports this is the first attack near Tel aviv in 20 years by a rocket, that can't be right, can it?

Might be right, most of the attacks don't reach that far.

Well in Palestine's case, it's either support a Pro-Israel government (Fatah) that has done nothing to advance the peace process, or support some religious nut jobs that have forgotten all about making peace with Israel and successfully expelled Israel out of Gaza using terror tactics. In Israel's case, no party has a chance in hell to win an election if they don't pander to the extremely nationalistic nutjob racists.

I thought Israel had a blockade going. How did the Palestinians sneak this sucker through? (Fajr 5) Which is what the Palestinians are saying they fired.

Label them however you see fit, it doesn't matter, Fatah is a terrorist organization as well. Hamas was democratically elected, which isn't surprising considering how long Israel has bargained in bad faith and kicked the can down the road for their benefit. People get fed up living as prisoners in their own land, unable to find work, farm their land, sell their goods to neighbouring countries. Food has become a huge issue with nutrition in Gaza being compared to sub-sahara Africa. Israel pens them in like animals and acts shocked when they lash out.

The Palestinian territories have one of the world's highest obesity problems:

Sub-Saharan Africa? Really? The gap between reality and fantasy when it comes to Israel is astonishing.

That's a mobile lanuching system. It's possible to launch the rocket without one. Also, Israel does not control Gaza's border with Egypt.

Your article is from 2007, not exactly current considering the blockade started that year. Israel imports the bare minimum food so the people don't starve, but calories alone don't stop malnutrition. 10% of kids are stunted, and 65% suffer from anemia. The blockade also stops people from getting essential medical care and necessary medicine. 30% of drugs deemed essential have 0 stock.

http://reliefweb.int/sites/reliefweb...20FINAL-LR.pdf

If you're looking for another source, Unicef has similar numbers online.

The blockade is no longer in existence. The blockade against food products was ended in 2011. As I previously mentioned, Israel does not control the border with Egypt.

If malnutrition in the Palestinian territories was a problem, you'd expect that to be reflected in life expectancy:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...ife_expectancy

Desptie having higher birthrights, the people of Gaza have a higher life expectancy than the best comparable, Egypt, and the peolpe in the West Bank have a higher life expectancy than their best comparables, Jordan.

I don't deny that Palestinians suffer as a result of this conflict, but trying to compare their plight to sub-saharan Africa is nothing but propaganda. Look at the life expectancy stats on those nations that you say are comparable. The majority are sub-50 years. While like I mentioned above, the Palestinians have a higher life expectancy than their non "occupied" arab contemporaries.

Also, you don't find it slightly suspect that the agencies reporting this "famine" are the agencies who's livelyhood depends solely on their being a famine. Pictures and evidence coming out of the Gaza Strip in no way support the idea there is any shortage of food there.

Edit:

The rates of Anemia, what your report sites as a major symptom of malnutrition, are less in the Gaza Strip, than they are in Egypt:

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12197323

Even if what you are trying to say was true, it doesn't justify launching thousands upon thousands of missles into civilian areas. Or calling for the destruction of an entire race.

"The truth is that if Israel were to put down its arms there would be no more Israel. If the Arabs were to put down their arms there would be no more war."

WOW! that's one of the dumbest statements ever made, by either side!!

I think its time that the world recognizes that both sides have no interest in lasting peace. Many peace proposals have been offered from different sources/countries, and neither side has shown any signs of wanting to implement them. at this point, what's the point of supporting either side?
