Insane to think of how much guaranteed money the Jays just took on. Nobody on the face of the earth saw this coming from their ownership.

Can someone give me a breakdown of what the lineup will look like now, including positions. It seems that they have a lot of Infielders now.

TOR GM Alex Anthopoulos told a friend last week that he was working on a pie-in-the-sky trade that he didn't think would happen. But it did

Might not be realistic but if the Jays could somehow now land Justin Upton i think the Jays would have to be favored in the east by a fairly large margin.

Marcum for Lawrie.
Spare parts (which did help the Cardinals win the world series, bullpen help cannot be stated enough but really had no help for the Jays long term) for Rasmus
Something in return for Vernon Wells and not eating a dollar off that contract is one of the best MLB moves in the last decade.
Even Gonzalez for Escobar was strong.
There is a honeymoon phase that can go on, luckily for Jays fans I can tell you he's incredibly highly thought of and respected around MLB. BUt the fact is the Jays have still not made the playoffs in two decades and he should only fairly be judged on that, especially now that he has money to spend.

I was more talking about the god comment which I agreed how he was looked at the time, but not quite the truth looking back.
I think the Escobar and Rasmus deals have a lot of questions about them considering how each performed so far in their time with the Jays. Not bad deals but not the outstanding trades they were thought to be at the time.

True. Sadly the type of trades you have to make if you're in the AL East. Rasmus still has a high ceiling but is a risk to ever get there. Escobar same thing with his attitude although he did give the Jays some really quality baseball for the majority of his time here. But I think you're right, not bad trades as they gave up nothing, but not huge wins for the Jays as of now.

I think he is still a free agent, right? He would be a great 5th starter if we have any money left.

Probably depends on what happens with Buerhle.
If he stays I doubt they re-sign Villenueva (but who knows after the money they just spent) if he is traded then there looks like there would be a spot for him.
