He'd be one of the worst 1B statistically in MLB, actually he'd be the worst. As a backup catcher or 1B his power is very welcome and it's huge the Jays didn't have to give him up with D'Arnaud still on the farm. I still think they move JP now, and could get some value for him with the slim catchers market.
But it needs to be repeated a 1000x LOL at it being Mathis.

LOL even harder. Marlins actually gave the Jays 4 million in return.

I am not sure it is that good a haul for the Jays but tough to make comparisons to hockey in a deal like this.
Maybe replace Jarome with Tanguay and take Boumeester out and add a Butler/Babchuk in there.
Either way a good deal for the Jays and a deal in which they get the proven guys and the Marlins end up with a lot of maybes.

And just like that, after a season from hell of injuries, brutal PR, the Escobar incident, losing a manger to Boston, in one move AA has turned everything around and the buzz about the Blue Jays is going to be nothing short of insane for next season.

Yep. Not only does this look like a great trade for Toronto, I'm betting it'll sell some season tickets and create a whole bunch of excitement. It might even improve their chances of landing a FA.

I don't think AA is done yet. I think he moves a catcher.

Is there a baseball forum that's like HF where I can read the reactions of Marlins fans?

Yup, starting pitching is solved.
They still need a 2B, a LF and a DH/1B

No more 'next year, maybe even the year after' for playoff expectations. For the first time in a long, long time the expectations will be playoffs THIS year.

Jose Reyes is thought to be the best shortstop in baseball by most people. You also get two front of the rotation starters which you could equate to first liners. Pretty much the Blue Jays just added two top line players and a top defensmen and a quality depth player in John Buck.

Does anyone else not see it as, Davis/Bonifacio in LF, and Izturis/Bonifacio at 2B? Before any future trades, but Emilio sure adds a lot of options going forward...

Marlins fans? I don't think they exist and any that did likely won't be around after their moves this year.

I think Bonafacio would be their 2B. Between him and Izturis they're in good shape there.
LF or 1B will likely be solved by trading JPA me thinks

Seems everyone is overwhelmingly in favor of the Jays. Considering they apparently didn't even have to give up JPA, the Jays have some good chips to make another large deal. AA's seemed like a God in every one of his blockbusters.
