Default [Trade Deadline] Jonathan Toews to NJ? Jamie Benn?

Amidst rampant speculation, the New Jersey Devils have announced a press conference at 11 AM where a trade is expected to be announced. There have been multiple players who fit the bill in terms of the style New Jersey plays, but at the head of the group is premier center Jonathan Toews and pending RFA Jamie Benn. New Jersey has been rumored to be after both players at various points during the season, and it appears the approaching trade deadline has finally precipitated a transaction. It is not clear who is on their way out, but the acquisition of either player would make for add to a very dangerous and deep forward corp in New Jersey.......

At a press conference, GM stamptheseflames and captain Ilya Kovalchuk were present to announce the pre-deadline blockbuster deal that sees the Devils getting a young superstar centerman in Jonathan Toews. Logan Couture, Patrick Hornqvist, Tomas Kubalik, Stephane Robidas and Radek Dvorak are the outgoing players.
GM stamptheseflames stated that the opportunity to add a player of Toews' caliber was just too tempting and that although the price was steep, he said that with the forward depth the Devils possessed (Hornqvist began the season as their first line RW and is currently their third line LW) the trade was a no brainer.

In other news, the Devils also acquired goaltender Evgeni Nabokov from the Wild for Al Montoya and a third round selection in the upcoming NHL entry draft. Nabokov is expected to provide insurance in case of injury to bonafide starter Ondrej Pavelec.

Ilya Kovalchuk - Jonathan Toews - Wayne Simmonds
James Van Riemsdyk - Henrik Sedin - Kyle Okposo
Niklas Hagman - Brandon Dubinsky - Danius Zubrus
Daymond Langkow - Saku Koivu - Steve Sullivan

Kevin Bieksa - Oliver Ekman-Larsson
Josh Gorges - Sami Salo
Justin Faulk - Jason Demers

Ondrej Pavelec
Evgeni Nabokov

Though Phoenix's GM, Thyme Balm, is currently concluding a business trip to meet with his AHL affiliate, TSNs Bob McKenzie was able to reach him via conference call to discuss the blockbuster deal that sent Franchise cornerstone Johnathan Toews to the New Jersey Devils.

"Let me first say what a thrill it has been having someone of Toews calibre in the locker room this season. Unfortunately, the writing was on the wall this year, and the market was too active to pass on an opportunity to grow the future and depth of the the Coyotes organization. Johnny deserves a chance at another cup. He's a competitor, and a leader, and we wish him all the best.

On a positive note, I am happy to announce the acquisition of several key young players who I believe will next year bring Phoenix fans the same opportunity as we've given Toews this year, a chance at Stanley Cup glory. I am very happy to add Logan Couture, Patrik Hornqvist, Nikola Filitov, radek Dvorak, Anton anismov, and Jamie McBain to the lineup along with our other new prospects and veterans. Fans of Phoenix- The future is bright!"

..Lost in the news of Toews being shipped was the transaction that saw talented players Grabovski and Giordano to Nashville in exchange for Anisimov, filatov, and McBain. Critics of this deal think Phoenix gave too much for too little, but only time will tell...
