Default Unopposed Georgia candidate gets write-in opponent... Darwin.

Some of you who were following the US Political election may have seen this video.

In the video, Rep. Paul Broun of Georgia, who was running unopposed, told supporters that he finally realized that all that science stuff he was taught - namely, evolution and the big bang theory - was "lies, lies from the pit of hell". He also said:
Quote:

As disturbing as this is, it gets worse, because this guy is on the House Science Committee - right alongside the guy who made the comments about "legitimate rape", which makes one wonder if this committee is more interested in new and more reliable witch-detection methods than actual science, but I digress.

Anyway, lost in the many stories of the US election last week was this one. Paul Broun was running unopposed, so he was going to win re-election no matter what. However, in his district, voters went to the polls and in spite of there being no challenger, voted for a write-in candidate: Charles Darwin. So far, there are 4000 such votes from one county alone. They're still counting.

The remains of Darwin seem like a better option for congressman.

Where is the "scientific data" that proves Earth is 9000 years old? Books of fairy tales don't count.

If you carbon date a core sample that only goes down sixty feet, I believe that's what the accountants call a 'loophole'.

This type of guy is going to drive republicans completely out of any presidental race for years, he calls himself a "scientist" yet he really only practiced general medicine. Unless of course he calls taking chemistry in 1966 as a right to call yourself a scientist. If that's the case I'm one too..a more modern one as well.

This is a guy who remarked that Obama reminded him of Hitler and Stalin and doesn't believe in the constitution, he also laughed when someone asked him "who''s going to shoot Obama?" during an election meeting. that little stunt got him a meeting with the secret service.

Unreal that this idiot is a representive of anything, even the crazy tea party should boot him to the curb.
