Default Canada Post employees

If their are any CP employees here can you PM me, I'd like to ask some questions about the new postal transformation that is coming. I heard that it was put into place out there recently.

After I hear the mods can go ahead and delete it.

My dad and mom retired within the past month and year from CP, respectively. They may be able to answer your questions.

my question is - when a box tries to get delivered, why do they indicated as delivery attempted when no delivery was attempted. When my buzzer is buzzed my cell phone gets a call and as such logs it.

Sorry to derail

Why is it that whenever I try to pick up a package addressed to my wife they give me grief about it even though it clearly states on the pick-up card that people who live at the same address can pick it up.

Why is it do I find bills in my mailbox? I don't want bills. Thank you.

Unless it's a $100 bill, then yeah, throw that in my mailbox.

If its considered 'registered' mail, then it has to be your wife who picks it up.

If they know you well, they let you pick it up on behalf of your spouse.

I am not sure if that is in the rules but I do know it happens with me and my spouse.

Yeah, what's the deal with this? At my current residence my carrier doesn't even attempt to deliver packages to me. Even with my buzzer number indicated on the package she doesn't bother to try and call me to come down.

It's pretty baffling if you ask me, as this didn't happen at my old place. And now that my old Canada Post location closed down I am forced to drive 10-15 minutes to pick up my packages.

I actually called it and complained about it, but the moron phone rep said that this is normal procedure, and the carrier is not expected to deliver packages to me

I have no problem with them taking packages to the post office when I am not home (obviously), but to not even attempt delivery is absolutely piss poor service.

Then to top it off it generally takes 2-3 days for them to write up delivery notice cards. So packages usually arrive a couple days before I actually find out they are already waiting for me.

Canada Post is a horribly run company, even compare there rates to USPS, and the differences in rates and services is astounding. How can it cost $14 to track any package east of the prairies?

The quicker a private company can either buy them out, or start up a true competitive service the better.

In Canada not doing your job properly usually leads to promotion.

I was breathing fire at the poor girl at the call centre. I understand it's not her fault but seriously if you don't attempt delivery due to whatever reason (too busy, lazy, accident) then leave the field blank. Don't lie to me.

From what I understand, the drivers have to attempt to deliver the package, but if they have a lot of mail to deliver that day then they will skip the attempt and just tick off attempted to deliver. I like to assume they hold the package out their window and stretch really hard, then shrug and say 'well, I tried'.
I used to have a driver who would forget to (not) fill out the notice that they couldn't deliver and then remember when the post office sent out the notice that stated I had three days left to pick up my package before it was sent back. That notice would show up at the same time as my handwritten 'failed attempt' note.

Funny story about the post office. They installed a mailbox near my house that only accepted mail. Apparently no one told the driver who was supposed to empty it. It took three months before a concerned citizen called to let them know that the box was to full to put another letter in it.

We're surprised about union employees not trying because?

They might not be attempting delivery if it is a foot route and they are betting the odds that you aren't home. If you don't answer the door, they have to carry around your parcel all day.

I doubt footies carry parcels, the union would never allow that.
