Jankowksi leaves a lot to be desired when he doesn't have the puck. He doesn't seem to be involved much in the play. A little worrisome.
I had the opposite experience watching a power play during the second period. I watched him move to the front of the net and change sides as the puck moved from side to side at the point. I thought he was in prime position when he was down low.

At first hearing that Jankowski is playing wing is disappointing as I'd like to see him develop as a centre. Being a rookie this may help his transition and he can use his time playing wing to improve his strength and board play as well as his scoring touch without the defensive responsibilities of a centre. It should make him a better player in the long run and with his potential size it would be nice if he was strong along the boards.
I hope someone from the flames makes a friendly inquiring phone call or even a bribe to keep him as a center.
I'm pretty sure its more because LW has less defensive responsibility and he has good chemistry with his current center. He'll probably shift back to center in future seasons.
My guess is that they don't think he's ready for the defensive responsibilities of being a centre. Get him used to the NCAA game, then move him to centre.

What Leaman said about Jankowski playing center a month ago:
Quote:
"He's looked very good and I expect him to play a big role this year. It's undecided if I'm going to have him at center or wing. We're just going to kind of work through that as the year goes. I project him as a centerman. He's going to make an impact with us,'' said Leaman.
