What a selfish play. That would make Ryan Kesler blush.
Must run in Vancouver.

Yeah let's take 15 seconds to take a shot when there's 10 seconds left in the game and your down by 1.
I just don't get this sport.

Well it was a pretty good season. Lots of work to do in the off season though.
Sucks to lose it on that penalty. Losing Demeritt really hurt.

Well that was disappointing. Although the penalty was soft, the writing was on the wall and I think that LA would have won this game regardless. It would have been a nice upset if Vancouver had hung on, but it is pretty clear that the better team won.
It was a fun season, even if it fizzled out somewhat for the last couple of months. I was able to see two matches live, and I'll be looking to try and do the same next season.

I'd love to see more Canadians in the lineup, and eventually that will happen through their academy program. Until then, they've got to put the best team they can out there, regardless of nationality.
I've got my brown 3rd jersey on and waiting for this Toronto-Hamilton game to end! 5 penalties on one play? They're really doing what they can to drag this out.

My post was mostly in response to the comment saying it was a big night for Canadian soccer, I should have quoted it.
I'm sorry, but I can't cheer for a team from Vancouver even if it is the closest team to Calgary. Too much history with the Canucks and Lions and their fans. I liked the Sounders and TFC before the Whitecaps went to MLS anyways.
Swansea is probably the closest EPL team, and this is also their second season in the top division, should I automatically start supporting them?

The posession was like 80%-20%. LA would have won regardless of the how they scored the winning goal.

Fair enough - you can cheer for whoever you like. I prefer to support a team that I have a reasonable chance of catching live, so geography matters to me. And aside from the Canucks and their arrogant fan base, I love the city of Vancouver. I'm not going to let a hockey rivalry get in the way of supporting Western Canada's only reasonable place for an MLS club at the moment. I don't expect everyone's criteria to be based on that, but I have more of a connection to Vancouver and the Whitecaps than any other MLS team, so it feels natural to support them.
Go ahead and support Swansea if you like, but the geography argument for me is also about accessibility. You can easily do a one-night trip to Vancouver and back to catch a game. Swansea, not so much.

Absolutely right. You could see it coming for the majority of the match. If LA were playing better, it would have happened a lot earlier. The penalty was a bit soft, but the Vancouver defence got burned and left themselves vulnerable for that sort of thing. And if it didn't come from the penalty, it would have happened sooner or later. You could just see it.

Well, considering they are the first Canadian based club to make it to the MLS playoffs, it is a milestone. Easy to say now but if they had found a way to win tonight, I think they matched up very well against San Jose.
I get the Vancouver hate but for me it ends with the Canucks and some of their fans. Certainly not the city.
Good season but the Miller/Robson moves look to have been a dud as exemplified by the lack of touch by both just before the Magee goal.
That summed up the second half of the season pretty much.
You can now all cheer for Sounders FC tomorrow night with me.

Missed most of the match playing my own, disappointed to see they couldn't pull it off.
Great season though, looking forward to next season and hopefully some good changes in the off season.
And my tickets actually getting cheeper next year, can't complain about that.

Good article that sums up some of the thoughts here. The Whitecaps DP's are terrible! If you're bringing in big money talent, they better be able to perform in the clutch, and they didn't. It cost them the game.

Can't stand Donovan. Has always been an outrageous diver. The refs should know this by now.

I didnt catch all of this game, but what was the deal with this Mattocks character?
He got that one goal and then he totally mailed it in. His attitude and body language was reprehensible, it was like the very effort of being on the field was all too much for him. Is he playing through an injury or something?
He was awful. I couldnt wait until they pulled him off.
His display after scoring was bringing all of his teammates down and they had to play on without him basically playing with 10. Awful.

I didn't think that about Mattocks at all. The 'Caps went with the 10-0-1 formation and left him completely by himself in the LA half. We pretty much just launched the ball forward and expected him to run it down and then beat 4 defenders.

Not to mention they would launch the ball nowhere near him and expect him to try and chase it down
