Default Lake Bonavista

Ok, here's the deal. I moved from calgary about 6 years ago, and i always remembered lake bonavista as being man-made (if you dig deep enough on the beach, you hit concrete... don't ask me how i know this).

Now my friend who lives in lake bonavista but is here @ uni with me claims that its real, but i'm almost 100% sure it was constructed. I'm too lazy to google it so i figured i'd post here and let the answer come to me . There's a case of beer riding on this, so thanks in advance for the info!

Took me less time to google it than to read your post

I don't know if it's still there, but there was a sign on the fence that explained how they built the lake. I think how it worked is that they dug the hole for the lake, used some of the dirt to build the hill inside the park and used the rest of it to build the berm along Anderson road. To fill the lake they diverted Fish Creek.

That could all be a figment of my imagination, but I can picture the wooden sign and I think it said something like that. There is no doubt that it's man made though so that beer is yours.

It was right by the main entrance wasn't it? I remember a sign as well.

I am sure that sign is still there. I was playing Tennis there last Summer and I remember reading it again.

100% a man made lake. I LOVE that place. Spent all Summer there as a kid.

Yes the sign is still there. At least it was last summer.

Right behind the Safeway, at the main gates.
