To add to this, the Hamilton Bulldogs and Toronto Marlies games usually raise the average attendance as well.

Brossoit was really weak to start last season as well.
This is really starting to gain life, like a slow start Iginla, trade him, storyline that just won't quit.

Is there something about the Oil Kings in specific that you don't think is a good fit for him? or just a general feeling.
I have not followed them that much this year so not sure if there is something there that I am missing.

I'm trying to put a positive spin on this, I know the reasons behind it but it could also draw in some new fans.

Im not sure why he thinks the Oil Kings are a bad atmosphere for him. They'll be one of the best teams in the WHL again this year.

a few guys did the same thing last time around. Scott Gomez played for Alaska in teh ECHl during the last lockout. There were even guys playing at lower levels than that in North America. The UHL's Motor City Mechanics saw Bryan Smolinski, Sean Avery, Derian Hatcher and Chris Chelios play for them.

he'd better get used to playing in front of literally dozens of fans, the BJs await.

Those Alaska guys have a strong affinity for their local team. My dad works in Anchorage and says the Aces are a big draw in town (as you might expect). They'd probably join the AHL if the league would let them, although IIRC the AHL bosses initially were hesitant about Abbotsford joining due to the travel implications. At least the ECHL is a far more western league (ironically, despite its original name).

I would love for the Aces to get a shot in the AHL and see the Utah Grizzlies return to AAA level hockey. Those 2 teams plus Abbotsford would be a strong foundation for a true Northwestern Division.

Kulak now has 9 points in 14 games ... that's not too shabby, given that he plays for the worst team in the WHL. Everyone is talking about Sieloff and Culkin, but the third defenseman of the 2012 draft is doing well too.
Also, Matt Deblouw has had a solid start too his college career - he has 3 points in 6 games for Michigan State. So far, the 2012 draft is looking really good.

Because it's in Edmonton and the team is owned by the Oilers.
Edmontonians don't like him and will jump on him as soon as he falters because he is a Flames prospect. The Oil Kings have also operated in much a way to favor the interests of the Oilers. No NHL team has more prospect on the OKs than the Oilers, and they just added another today in their trade for David Musil. Why should the Oilers develop a rival team's prospect?
The coaches show zero confidence in Laurent even after he carried them to the Memorial Cup. Laurent's technical skills are very good - I'd say the best in the WHL. His struggles right now are from a lack of confidence which is being amplified by the environment.

The Oil Kings aren't the Oilers farm team any more than the Hitmen are Calgary's farm team. Strange logic you employ there.

I never said they were, but they are owned by the Katz group.

Do Hitman fans boo Oiler prospects? Your grasphing man. He just made it the Memorial cup with them as the starting goalie. I don't think you can hang his rough start on the team.

I'm not saying his play is the result of the Oil Kings; I'm saying that his inability to break this particular slump is a challenge because of the environment.

Sounds like you're making excuses for him. Time to suck it and own Brossoit.

Yeah I don't buy it at all. Brossoit is a fan favorite with most fans even as a flames prospect. I really don't think the environment with the OK's being owned by Katz and the oilers is an excuse for Brossoit at all. He'll get it together sooner then later and he'll be fine.

With a SV% of 1.72, he's only ranked 14th!? What is this? A freak league?
