I remember when I got banned with JeremyWilhelm for 2 weeks for having a fake argument that was an inside joke to a show (forget what it was). He got life, I got 2 weeks.
I'm loved by the mods.

I left and came back but I didn't get banned, I asked them to close up my account and stopped posting for a few years, just had enough of it for a while.
Still read it occasionally and somebody offered free Flames tickets on the buy/sell one night... signed back up to grab them and was re-hooked 
Miss the group from around 6 years or so ago though, felt like I had more of a sense of the posters personalities then, and despite his stirring the pot Lanny was a major loss to the character of the community IMO.

I've never understood asking the mods to close your account. What's the point? You lack the self control to not come here?
Well not you specifically, but people in general.

Ya I guess so... especially when you post for 5 or 6 years and force of habit is strong. When I stop using a website, I close down my account - wasn't really necessary here I guess so it's fair to say.
Combo of started a new job and wanted to cut down on my internet time combined with my perception that disagreement on the board had moved away from debate to putdowns. After the cup run the board wasn't as interesting for me. Seems a little drama-ish I guess but it wasn't a big deal at the time to me. Never been a huge poster volume wise so it wasn't big deal for myself or the board I'm sure, wasn't really one of the hardcore group to being with.

The question I would have is if you ask the mods to close down your account and then restart it when you come back is there anything that they really did?
I guess it stops the impulse posts but it does seem like a fruitless endevor that ultimately results in you not posting whether your account is closed or not.
Perhaps it is the symbolic nature of getting them to close the account that makes it easier for you to stop posting or you had to jump through hoops to get it back up but it does seem like when I "closed" my facebook account only to have every feed I missed up and running when I signed back in.

I found after a couple months of not participating that the impulse was gone and didn't come to the board regularly for 2 years or so after that so I feel like it allowed me to break my CP addiction lol. Might have browsed after a major trade or something. For me wanting to spend less time online for a couple years it totally worked.
Probably could have done it easily without closing my account though. Wasn't a big deal either way, just figured it would be easier to take a break.
Also just an aside but I don't think they reopen old accounts. Didn't bother asking anyway.
