As an aside .... Brett Sutter is wearing the 'C' for the Charlotte Checkers... I was surprised to read that today. I wonder how likely he is to be an NHL regular?

He was the captain for most of last season too. Considering the Canes bottom 6, I could see him making that team, but I don't know how permanent he'll be.

Horak to me looks like he'll be a great 4th line Center in the future. He seems to me to be a slightly more offensively talented Stephane Yelle type in the making. I don't think he's good enough offensively to be a top 6 player, and might develop upwards of being a 3rd liner.
One of those guys that has limited upside but is very likely to hit his potential.

I think it is doubtful that he ever makes it as a regular.
Seems like a guy that could get call-ups because of his work ethic and ability to fill into and play a responsible 10 minutes when needed but he doesn't seem to have the talent or upside to get a regular gig in the NHL.

I think that is a horrible comparison. During Yelles prime he was one of the better 3rd line center. Plus he was gritty and unreal faceoff player. Completely different game than Horak.
I think it is tough to say where Horak will top out. I think he has the skill to potentially be a #2 center in 5-10 years. He certainly turned out far better than I thought he would when we traded Erixon for him. Scoring at the pro level and proving he can handle things at the NHL level. He has leaped ahead of many prospects who I was once high on (Howse, Nemisz, Bouma, Wahl)
The line on Horak since last year is that he's a sponge. Very coachable, can play all three forward positions, and can work on the power-play or the penalty-kill.
I'd call him a poor man's Max Reinhart, which only means he doesn't read the game quite as well as Max Power does.
“It’s different to play all three positions. If you play wing, you’re stuck on the wall. But it all depends on who you play with. I had the chance to play with Max Reinhart. He’s a great centreman, so it’s a been a pleasure to play with him and he made it kind of easy for me.
Max only has two points so far but it's good to hear that he's doing a good job.
