I have WS70's and they are the bomb. Best winter tire I've had in a long time.
Was just coming in to say this. They are way better than the Kumho KW17s that I had previously. My little civic plowed through all the snow like it was nothing this morning.
I lost the key to my car and i had to order another one through silverhill they said it could take 3-4 weeks and thers a specific serial number for each key in the glove box ..i ended up finding the locknut key where my jack was

My tire place said there was a 3.5 week wait to put on the winter tires. Anyone find a sooner one?
Waited too long to buy winter tires so I had my van towed to the shop today (because I got stuck on my driveway the tires were too bald). I got in right away and was out within an hour.
Move to Lethbridge and go to Mo Tires on 5th Ave N. They work on a first come first serve basis.

If you need them off sooner than later, use a socket that is slightly too small to fit over the locknut and hammer it on. Then use a regular wrench to remove it. The common lugnut "locks" do nothing to stop anyone from stealing a wheel. I've had a complete set of wheels stolen before with a lock nut on each. Will never buy them again.

A video that explains in detail what BlackArcher101 was refering too
So what's the deal with hitting up Costco dark and early to get a number?
I know they start handing out numbers at 6am... so would I be safe to go there at 5:30, or will there be people camping out since 3am?
Costco is only a 6 minute drive for me, but I want to make sure I get a good starting number so I can get in close to when they open at 8am.
Who's done this before in prime winter tire season? Any advice?
Thanks.
UPDATE:
Got to Costco at 5:45am this morning. Scored me a piece of paper with #4 on it. They said they open the foyer at 6am, but they were letting people in around 5:30am by the looks of it. At 6am someone comes out and gives out numbers in the order that people are lined up around the shopping carts.
Went home, had breakfast and went back at 8am. Got out of there by 10am. Should have been sooner as they said they can do 4 vehicles per hour, but they were definitely slower than that and they left bay 4 empty for a while before they brought my truck in and started work on it.
One girl was there early enough to get #1. She was just having wheels swapped... she was out of there by 8:30.
If I didn't live close enough to have the option of going home between getting the number and going back at 8, it would make for a long ass ordeal and supreme PITA. By the time the Tire Center Opened at 8am, they had given out enough numbers to book them up for the entire day. Lots of pissed off stragglers, who came in at 8am without a number, getting turned away.

I wasn't listening super carefully, but everyone going in this morning trying to buy Michelins were told they would have to wait a minimum of 3 weeks for anything they didn't already have in stock... but they were going out of their way to say that it would likely be more than 3 weeks to indefinitely as Michelin is having a supply issue at the moment.
This could have been a particular model of Winter tire or perhaps a particular size of a particular model (like I said, wasn't listening too carefully), but they were definitely spewing off the same spiel over and over again to a lot of people that approached the service counter.
That is an ungodly hour to wake up to buy winter tires.
That's sleeping in for me. I get up at 4am every day and am out the door at 4:45 heading to work. That's why when I say it's a 22 minute drive to work (in Calgary) from Airdrie, I'm not lying

Nope. I got an email from Costco. I already have my tires installed.
Does anyone have any experience with Federal Himalaya WS2?
I went to UrbanX today, and they mentioned they were probably the best bang for your buck winter tire. I've never heard of this brand before myself, so I'm curious if anyone has ever had them.

I got the Federal Himalaya SUVs, (pretty much the same as the WS2), for my wife this year on a very similar recommendation - so far I have been happy with them. They've been on for a week now and she has said they have been good, I was happy with them when I drove her car.
A little whine to them at highway speeds, but to be expected.

I have to swap out my wheels for my winter wheels. They are already on their own rims. Is it a simple process of unlocking the lug nuts and simply jacking up my wheels and going? Is there anything I should be careful of specifically?

-Make sure you use the specified jack points on the car (will show them in the owners manual).
- chock at least one wheel and make sure the park brake is on
- break the lug nuts (do not remove or loosen, just get them started) before jacking the car up. If you don't the wheels will spin while you're trying to break the lug nut loose.
- mark the tires you're removing with the positions they were in (ie front driver's side). Put them back in the same position in the spring (unless they're due for rotating anyways)
