I thought that the baseball gods were intervening on the Cardinals' behalf, and that somehow they would score 10 runs because the Giants couldn't pitch in the rain.

Tigers might be rusty.

Three previous times one LCS ended in a sweep while the other went seven games, and each time the team that played Game 7 easily won the World Series.

Having the best pitcher in the game going for you in game 1 could counter that sluggishness

No way Lincecum starts again or that the Giants have given up on Madbum.

Giants rotation is set for games 1-4.
Zito, Bumgarner, Vogelsong, Cain
If the series goes seven, it sets up to have Vogelsong versus Sanchez.
Bochy said Lincecum is "better served at this point helping us out of the bullpen. He gives us another weapon there and he's resilient."

Advantage Tigers. Especially having to have Volgelsong and likely Zito pitch at Comerica Park.

They are saying that Leyland got the team to play scrimmages at full speed over the last few days. The weather has been nice in Detroit.
Leyland learned his lesson from 2006 where the Tigers also entered the WS after sweeping the ALCS and he let them sit around. They ended up losing to the Cardinals mostly due to their pitchers not being able to field balls or throw properly to 1st base.

Probably a day late and may seem insincere based on what I said about the Giants but honestly congrats to the Giants fans here on the win.
As frustrated as I am with the series you guys won and good job on that. I imagine you guys know from 2010 but enjoy it as these things are what we live for as fans as much as they can cause a rollercoaster of emotions.

I am the worst at that. I apologize.
MadBum seems to benefit the most from pitching at AT&T Park. His home/road splits are drastic, although I still think his future is an elite #2 guy with the swing and misses he gets. Volgelsong has had his numbers slowly start to regress to his norm, he still had a very strong #3 year, but if you're the Tigers, you'd much rather have him on the road.
I love the Giants rotation and bullpen but I think it can be exposed in a park like Comerica vs an AL lineup. The ball can fly at that park and that's why in my mind Games 1 and 2 are incredibly important to the Giants.

Thanks for the explanation. I thought Comerica was a big pitcher's park too?
Playing at night in Michigan in late October, should reduce HRs.

It's right down the middle, it's about 15th in terms of hitters ball parks. It is suppose to "feel like" +23 in Detroit tonight. East coast still getting very warm weather

Did they move in the fences? I thought when it opened, it was was one of the bigger parks in MLB.

Like Minute Maid, Comerica was once known for being something it is not today; it was actually hailed as a pitchers' park in its early days of existence. That changed following the 2002 season, when the Tigers installed a temporary fence to cut down the field dimensions, most notably dropping the distance in left-center from 395 to 370 feet. Sure enough, right-handed power hitters have capitalized, with a homer index of 118 from 2007 to '09.

Cain told Jim Rome he did not throw at Holliday on purpose in Game 7. Cards fans tweeting Rome don't believe him.
