The difference in this series so far has been team defence.

I do think it's been a pretty weak season in terms of the caliber of these playoff teams. I'm glad it won't be the two worst facing off in the World Series. This should be a warning to any team naive or dumb enough to throw money at Kyle Loshe this offseason. Credit to the Cardinals for making it this far, they could have easily been up on the Giants, they got some awful breaks on balls in play early on in this game.

Giants matchup really well against the Tigers with homefield. The most pitchers ballpark in the history of pitchers ballparks vs the AL homer heavy Tigers. Verlander going Wednesday with a chance to make it 1-0, they catch a break with Cain having to go tonight.

Nice to see Freddy Sanchez and Brian Wilson in the dug-out. Band of Brothers.

Lance Lynn warming up, Matheny looking to ensure this series is over.

Haven't you guys learned from moons posts? The opposition never deserves the slightest iota of credit, its always his side who did everything to themselves.

Well that was a load of crap.

Hard to be too mad based on what was legitimately expected out of the Cards this year but considering where they were after game 4 hard not to be upset.

Changes should be made but I am concerned that like the Flames the Cards will use this as a reason to maintain status quo. Sure Descalso and Kouzma had some moments but they have no spot on a play-off team.

They did well for a transition year but now is time to make some real changes and use this momentum to quickly reload for another run.

I noticed the distinct lack of a denial of my statement in your reply. Being honest, I've never seen you ever give the other team credit when they do well. Last couple games have been your guys fault, not the fact the Giants stepped it up big time. No credit to Zito for locking the Cards up, no credit to the Giants for whipping them tonight. Sometimes as much as it hurts, the better team, and not yours, actually won. The Giants were the better team, period. The Cards comebacks were great and made of legendary stones, but the Giants now have 6 of their 7 wins this postseason when facing elimination. Like it or not, they have just as brass a set as the Cards.

I would think this post from this page would count

A back-handed compliment I suppose counts as credit. You are basically still saying the Cards should have won, and that they blew it by losing to Zito, not for instance saying Zito pitched incredibly well and actually deserved to win, rather the Cards didn't take advantage of a crappy pitcher and a weak line-up. Indirect credit I suppose is what you're giving the Giants.

I am saying what I have always said and that is that I think the Cards should win the series. That isn't saying the Giants didn't play well but that the Cards should win.

When I use the words I give Giants credit that seems very similar to giving another team credit. The fact that I didn't think they were a better team coming into the series has nothing to do with giving them credit for what they did over the past 3 games.

It is possible to give another team credit and still be upset with the way your team played.

I assume Bochy will start Bumgarner, then Zito (backed by Lincecum).

I would guess the Giants go with Zito, Lincecum, Vogelsong and Cain in games 1-4.

Come on Tigers.

I find it difficult to cheer for the Giants as the evil spectre of the notorious drugs cheat Barry Bonds is never too far away.

I even didn't cheer for the Giants when Bonds was there. However, to think that the Tigers (or any other team) do not have half a dozen drug cheats today, is naive. Sad, but true.

The rain at the end was insane.

I was thinking, imagine if Calgary had a baseball team and we played Game 7 last night as it was snowing.
