Any type of extended rain delay if the game gets started would hurt the Giants much more then the Cardinals with Cain on the mound. Let's hope mother nature let's us have a game tonight
If Cain throws 3-4 innings and then the rain delay hits, it's very rare we see that starting pitcher go back on the mound. Cain is the far superior pitcher. That's the point I was trying to make

The Giants have Lincecum in the bullpen, who could go 4+ innings if need be and he doesn't take much time to get warmed up. He'd be doing it on three days rest, but he only threw 91 pitches on Thursday. They still have Bum who hasn't pitched since the 14th, but I'd be very wary of using him given how he's thrown in his two starts this postseason.
Lohse has had a much better postseason than Cain so far. Hopefully that gets reversed tonight.

That's just bad pitching by Lohse and the Cards. 2-1 count to Scutero with a man on first.. more than 50-50 they're going to send the runner. EVEN MCCARVER KNEW THEY WERE GOING TO RUN. You can't throw that pitch outside where Scutaro can't do anything with it BUT hit it to the right side into the gaping hole. What's worse is the 2B went to cover the bag making it an even bigger hole.
That's pitch has to be inside on the hands. Have to pitch to your defense, not the other way around.

Still can't accept the Giants are a real good team?
Still can't accept that we are giving up RBI's to Matt F'ing Cain!
But no I don't think the the Giants are that impressive in terms of play-off calibre teams. Obviously better than a run of the mill team in the league. But a team I think the Cards should beat.
Edit: I should add I don't think the Cards this year are that great either.

The Giants won 94 games during the regular season and are built, in theory, for the playoffs with their rotation. True their rotation wasn't as dominant this year, but they have the potential and showed it in 2010. Their hitting has been clutch this year, especially in the second half, and they are very sound defensively.
The Cardinals won 88 games, the lowest of any playoff team, even with Houston in their division.
The teams were 3-3 against each other during the regular season. There are no easy teams in the playoffs. That's what a 162 game schedule produces.

From the start I have said I didn't expect much from the Cards but I thought the Giants were a team they could beat.
I give Giants credit they have taken advantage in these past three games and done what the Cardinals couldn't but that doesn't change that I think that this was a very winnable series for the Cards and am dissapointed in how they played with a 3-1 lead and a marginal pitcher up for game 5.
The game is half done, but I think it's safe to assume SF has this one. I'm not big on their team, but I'm just thrilled LaRussa won't win poo this year. He's such a smug POS (I can't believe I'm saying that about a manager, but it's true).

LaRussa retired at the end of last year. Mike Matheny is the Cardinals' manager. he was a great catcher of both teams in the NLCS.
