Default WEEK 17: Hamilton at STAMPEDERS

Who's going to show up HANK or FRANK? Henry Burris first game back at McMahon Stadium after getting traded to Hamilton. There are some questions on whether the fans should boo or not. I like Henry Burris and I sure hope Stampeder fans will give him a round of applause at the beginning of the game. Burris didn't leave Calgary on his own term..besides his family still lives here.

Stampeders need to win 2 games combine with a Saskatchewan lost to clinch 2nd place in the West. They can still go to #1 in the West but BC need to lose all their games pretty much and Stamps needs to win their remaining games.

Hamilton on the other hand is in danger of missing the playoff this season due to crossover. Too bad the Tigercats is playing the Stamps tomorrow; otherwise I will be cheering for them.

OFFENSE:

RB Jon Cornish leads the league in rushing with 1,275 yards and are only 165 yards behind former Stamps Normie Kwong's single season record for a Canadian running back of 1,437 yards.

QB Kevin Glenn threw 2 TD against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers last week and he siots 4th in league passing with 3,627 yards with 21 TDs.

Unfortunately two bad news for the Stamps' offense. R Marquay McDaniel who lead the Stamps with 6 catches for 73 yards and 1 TD last week will be on the sideline tomorrow due to injury. OLine Spencer Wilson, who's been playing well since he become a starter will also be on the sideline tomorrow with the knee injury.

R Nik Lewis caught his 9th TD pass of the season last week and is 2nd in the CFL in TD catches.

DEFENSE:

Calgary Defense played well last game and capitalized on 8 turnovers by Winnipeg. CB Fred Bennett had 5 tackles and had his 1st INT in the season. Keon Raymond who moved down to LB position also has INT and leads the team with 4 INTs (3rd best in the CFL). Derrius Brooks who took Raymond's spot on the secondary also had a pick and also contributed with 3 tackles. Safety Eric Fraser had the other INT.

DLine Demonte Bolden contributed a QB sack, a forced fumbled and a fumble recovery. Charleston Hughes had his 8th sack of the season, his career best for a single season. Stamps added Anwar Stewart on the DLine last week and tomorrow, another veteran DLIne Stevie Baggs might join him to replace Kenny Pettway who is nursing an injury. Baggs been practicing the last couple of practice season and looking good.

SPECIAL TEAMS:

I am still waiting for KR Jason Armstead to go all the way on the return. He's been good and had 114 yards in return last week. Stamps cover team did a good job last week covering kicks and punts holding the Bombers to 128 yards on 9 return and recovered a fumble early in the game to set up Calgary's first TD last game.
K Rene Paredes went 4 for 4 and scored 14 points. He now have 138 points in the seasin and he is in first place in field goal accuracy in the CFL.

Stamps fans should cheer Burris. He almost singlehandedly turned your franchise around. Hope he gets a standing O.

This is Burris' Grey Cup. He'll want nothing more than to win in Calgary. Which could very well mean he'll be pressing a lot of throws he probably shouldn't. Or he'll throw for 400 yards. One of the two

I was happy to see Burris go in the off-season but there is no reason to boo the guy.

If they boo him that's pathetic. Ya he's up & down and I'm glad he's gone now as its clear he's getting to the end of his career. But he was our starter for 7 years, won multiple MOP awards & a Grey Cup here, not to mention being one of the nicer and more approachable players in the league. Show some class.

Burris was great when here and a pro the whole time even though he was treated like garbage at the end.

No reason to boo him just because some idiot fans tried to throw him under the bus for other peoples fault. Sure the team would be better off with him here but it isn't his fault Huf was an idiot when it came to that decision.

Burris doesn't deserve any booing. Fans should appreciate his efforts that won them the Grey Cup in 2008 and many other competitive years. As for any regret that he's still not a Stamp: Absolutely none. His year in Hamilton epitomizes him as a QB. Leads the league in TD passes and QB rating, but likely will be eliminated from being able to make the playoffs either tonight or next week. If Hank could have engineered just one victory against the Riders in one of the years they eliminated the Stamps from the playoffs whether it be 2006,2007,2009, or 2010 then I might have a different opinion. Just seems to me he folded too easily against that team.

Throwing them our way? He hit the receiver square in the chest it isn't his fault the receiver has no hands, but that never stopped you from making stuff up about Burris in the past.
