Who cares where he is from? We need to find a quality coach who is the right fit for this program and team without worrying about what country he is from.
I care. I'd rather have a coach from a country with a strong footballing background and the experience in the national leagues to boot.
But by all means, lets get a coach from anywhere. How about Bhutan? How about Bikash Pradhan? Clearly he has the experience and talent to lead the Canadian squad against perrenial powerhouses Mexico and the U.S. for a World Cup slot. He led Yeezdin over Transport United in 2010 to the Bhutan A-Division league title. And if that doesn't work, we shouldn't limit our options - I say we also scour Bangladesh, Mongolia, Vanuatu and the Vatican for quality coaching.
We need a coach from a footballing country, that has been in the trenches with the best.
While your country-neutral position is noble, it doesn't make sense when clearly there are about 15-20 nations with the top tier of coaches.

This post is awfully different from the one where you said "we need an English coach".
What I said was that we need to find the right guy, who has the right experience and some fresh new ideas to infuse into this program. The last thing we need to do is narrow our options down to one country, especially if that country is England.

Well, of the 15-20 nations, my preference is an English coach. And I say this because a good handful of our guys play in the English leagues, and as such, we need to capitalize on the types of football that our national squad plays. Considering another good chunk of our guys play in the MLS, a quality coach from North America isn't a bad idea either.
More importantly, look at John Herdman's system. There are definitely positives we can borrows from a national program like the one he's heading.
I think the new coach (if Canada wants to be taken seriously, but then again, maybe the CSA doesn't?) needs to have serious experience. Sure Peschisolido might be Canadian, knows how screwed up our system is, and has some European coaching experience, but we need someone who can beat Central American teams, not someone who has difficulty in what is essentially Division 4 in England.
Names like Delio Rossi, Javier Aguirre, Harry Redknapp, and Luigi Delneri are who Canada should be linked with. Experienced European coaches that can overachieve with scrub players and guys that can actually compete with the level of coaching in strong national teams.

I have heard Aguirre's name thrown around a while, but I doubt he fits the CSA's budget. Tis a shame, he would know what it takes to win in Central America.
10 South American teams + USA + Mexico + 4 additional CONCACAF teams in a 16 team tournament to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Copa America.
The US will show the world how bad an idea it was to have the WC go to Russia and Qatar instead of the place with all the REALLY big and shiny stadiums that were well designed for TV, Luxury boxes, and such.

Canada won't be playing and I literally hate every other team in the americas
I don't know if there will be a qualification tournament or not for the 4 CONCACAF spots. If it's by invitation, it's a tournament the CSA has to bribe it's way into!

The tournament will be officially named "Copa América Centenario" in honor of the 100th anniversary of the competition. Mexico and the United States were singled out as automatically qualified to the tournament, with the remaining four to come from the four highest placing nations at the 2015 Gold Cup.
There you go Canada. Punch your own way into this tournament!

Well, assuming that the US and Mexico will be in the top 4, that means the last 6 teams will make it. How are they going to figure out who is 6,7 and 8th? 8 teams go to the quarters and 4 teams go to the semis?

Probably by Group Stage standings before losing in the quarters.
For example in Euro 2012 for the 4 losing quaterfinalists, England was 5th, Czech Rep was 6th, Greece was 7th and France was 8th.
England and Czech Rep. were group winners, Greece and France were not.

Hopefully that Copa America chance gives a higher profile coach the motivation and carrot to take the gig. Elicit pictures that the CSA gets of him keeps him here through 2018.
Found this...mostly highlights of 1994 WCQ in 1993. Canada could've beaten Mexico at Varsity and gotten through.I think they drew then lost in Mexico. Had to play Australia and won here, lost there, then lost in PKs.

Pretty mediocre squad from Holland. Sad thing is that they have a better chance to win with this group because theres no Schneider and van Persie.

#AFC's Carl Jenkinson is on England's bench for their game against Sweden, indicating he has received FIFA clearance.
Want to know why England isnt going to win anything? When you're begging Carl Jenkinson to play your squad depth is a bit thin.

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.
Are you sure Sterling is playing for England? that set up to Zibra was delish
1-0 Sweden
I don't think the back 4 is weak outside Johnson
Cahill has been good for Chelsea, Caulker will probably be starting for England for the next decade, Baines isn't Cole but he's one of the best LBs in the world considering the weakness of the position
