I started using Songza today... not bad. Though I found myself giving thumbs up to songs already in my library and thumbs down to the ones not there... which makes sense. I have the songs I like and avoid the rest. There were a select few that came up that I really liked that I don't already own.

My question is - how does this work legally? Radio stations have to pay royalties each time they play a song. Does Songza have to pay for the rights to the songs?

It seems that Songza has a limit on songs you can skip over. I guess their playlists have artists that the record companies want to promote and if kept skipping over the lesser known bands there would be nothing in it for them?

Touch Arcade has updated their app to make it universal, bringing iPad support into the mix. Don't have access to iTunes right now, so I can't provide a link, but for those who'd like a good way to sift through the myriad of iOS games out there, give it a look.

One feature I like is the ability to disable iPhone games, allowing you to just focus on iPad versions instead.

Probably similar to Pandora and other free streaming services. Something about paying royalty fees and only being able to skip so many songs on the free version.

I find it rather ridiculous, but whatever.

Love the interface. Combined with iTunes Match it makes some great mixes for me. Also love the fullscreen swipe to change song- great for driving.

I just tried Track 8, and although very pretty, its pretty buggy when navigating menus. Yeesh.

All third party music players Apple sucks because you can't rate songs and have those ratings propagate back into your iTunes library (via iTunes Match or plain old syncing) using third party music players. This is because the music metadata is sacred and belongs to the stock iOS music player.

Otherwise I'd be using Track 8 most likely, myself. I like how it rolls.

Edit: that Groove app looks quite interesting too!

You're also running all of your data through a transparent proxy by a service hosted in a foreign country, exposing an awful lot of data on and about yourself.
