I know they try to spin the demographic number but they have a monopoly, there is no other game in town. all us 9-5ers who used to enjoy listening while we put in our time have every right to bitch, moan or complain if we choose too. The sports radio in Calgary is on a downward trend and us sport junkies would like an option. If TSN ever decides to get into the game the FAN would have 2 options a- step up and get some talent on the radio or fold.

I'll argue that he's not horrible. He is knowledgeable, critical and starts good discussions. You may not like him, but he is not horrible. I am not a Steinberg fan, but he is not horrible. The only one who is horrible on the fan is Jungle Jim Hunter on Saturdays, Christian talk radio would put him to shame.

Sometimes, things need to change for all involved.

Most of us agree that Bryn isn't excelling in his current role, but at the same time, this lack luster performance can't be a good situation for Bryn or his career either.

Whether it's the environment, his co-workers, the mentoring role, personal lack of motivation, etc... Something isn't working for him and the longer he stays in this situation, the worse it makes his future prospects beyond the fan960 and minimizes what might have been a good career to this point.

At some point, someone will have to make the tough decision. Whether that is Bryn or his bosses, it will come to a head at some point. It always does.

I've found myself in a similar position. Being honest with myself and deciding to make a change before I went down a road where I would be told to make a change was the best thing I ever did.

I've switched over to streaming fan 590 @ 2:00 on week days. Although not Calgary based they usually have interesting interviews and do a good job making points.

Paying customer here. Have advertised with the FAN often in the past and had plans to purchase ad time surrounding the draft as well as free agency - decided not to as the slots were littered throughout the day and there is simply no value in the afternoon slots. People have stopped listening. Won't advertise with the FAN until the on air product improves.
Again, not calling for someone's firing - just the proper use of talent. Bryn's talent is not on air.
If I could have purchased ads to run when Loubo was co-hosting I would have. Pretty much willing to buy ads when Bryn is away on holidays, perhaps I'll discuss that option with sales...
Personally I now listen to the FAN for maybe 10 minutes in the afternoon as opposed to keeping the radio fixed there.

I've got no issue with Bryn, but what bothers me is that I'm forced to listen to Jim Rome every day. Team1040 in Vancouver does it right, with local coverage all day long even through the offseason.

And to that guy that said Mike Richards was good in the morning.... uugh. His schtick was grating, to say the least.

Mike Richards was great and Jim Rome at least talks other sports than NHL, CFL, and MLB. I know it is not big in this city but I love the NBA and the FAN guys don't have a clue about the league at all. On top of that I have no interest in baseball but I get it because Rogers owns the Jays and it is one of the only things going on in the summer.

Haha, that is another good example but I was trying to rip on him for his 45 second to 5 minute, guide the guest to the answer type "leading questions".

The morning show is pretty good. Walker and Boom have chemistry and feed off each other. They are funny.

After the morning show, I stop listening. The afternoon show is ####ing terrible.

Bryn has the personality of cardboard. The few times he does goes out on a limb, he has to start with a dozen qualifiers so he doesnt offend anybody. I find myself screaming "JUST SPIT IT OUT ALREADY" at the radio when he does this. But most of the time it sounds like he along for the ride.

Pat Steinberg. I cant stand this kid. He repeats the same goddamned point six times in the same breath like Jim Rome does. He talks the same 3 points in circles endlessly it seems. He constantly contradicts himself half the time. He patronizes and talks down to Bryn and his opinions (Right or wrong its very unprofessional. Bryn may be not liked, but let him say whatever he is gonna say). More often than not Steinberg just has bad takes.

Loubo needs to stick to behind the scenes junior hockey stuff. I cant stand his voice. Its unbearable at all times.

I appreciate Peter Maher. I really do. I like him as the voice of the Flames. But for the love of god, please dont have him in the afternoons. Just the pay the man to stay home until the NHL starts up. He has certainly earned it. Pete obviously has excellent NHL takes, but anything beyond that is mediocre radio along with these other chuckle####s.

I realize that they need to fill air time with nothing going on but find another afternoon crew to talk something other than CBA bull####. Believe it or not people like sports other than hockey and football.

This, Is it that hard to hire a sports guy to host a local show for 3 friken hours? The only thing worst than Jim Rome is the Saturday show with the uber idiot "jungle jim" who sounds like an goofy evangelist.
