POTW Winners - Days 1-7
Drumroll please!
Player of the week: Tavares (CAR). Tavares lit it up this week scoring 9 points in 4 games. That means he was in on 60% of Carolina's goals this week. No big deal, considering he's a rookie.
Defenseman of the week: McBain (NYI). 4 assists in 4 games with a massive +6 and a good number of shot blocks. Only averaged 20 minutes a night playing in the bottom pairing, but is making a case for getting more ice time. Will the coaching staff notice?
Rookie of the week: Eakin (DAL). A tight race for rookies this week, considering that Tavares got to roll with the big boy nominees this time around. Eakin had 3 G (including a GWG), 1A, was a +2 and had a 1st star nomination this week. Point of interest: Eakin was the only Dallas player to not be nominated for this week's Unsung Hero award.
Unsung hero: Cogliano (CHI). 6 points (3GP, 3A), +4 with a 60% shooting percentage. Rumors are that he's working with Goldberg on his knucklepuck skills.
Goalie of the week: Dubnyk (NJ). A solid first week for Dubnyk, posting a 2-0-1 record, a .957 SV% and a 1.62GAA. Most impressive of all was the 116 save performance this week. Look for the team to continue to allow 40+ shots per game as they try to earn enough cap space from Goalie of the Week awards to buy a proper defensive core and give Dubnyk some easier games!
Poster of the week: Cheese. Spezza's head, woman's body. Pat looks so happy. Partial credit to Helsa who, I believe, got the photo.
Boom. Enjoy your cap.

45 seconds between posting and editing the post to add the unsung hero!
Yes, Cogliano won!

I didn't nominate Tavares for ROW honours because he isn't a rookie, it's just a slight error by the sim. Through the course of the season I'll have that corrected BUT inj the meantime if Tavares accidentally wins any rookie honours I'll be forfeiting the cap to the deserving rookie

Nice write-up. For some reason McBain seems to excel in the bottom pairing, while having some powerplay time.

just looked at this and see I won the poster of the week.
Im going to trade the value of this win to Hesla...he did all of the grunt work and is the one who deserves it.

I believe in the Pony Power

Yeah the sim does a poor job of tracking rooks - I've taken the rookie tag off JT (and Matt Duchene) if anyone notices other let me know.
