Posters weren't just saying Bryn, Brent or Darryl were doing a bad job. People were saying they should be fired in many instances. Why you're choosing to play the white knight card on me for this is beyond me when threads like this have been going on for years on CP.
Clearly you have other motivations for defending Steinberg when you've sat idly by watching Bryn get pounded on for months in this exact same thread. In fact just about every page in this thread has at least one reference to people hoping Bryn gets fired.
You think my opinion sucks - well I think blindly defending one personality while ignoring the talk towards the other is pretty flaky in its own right.

Surely you recall that I have been, almost always, against anyone getting fired - including both Sutters.
I hate seeing people rejoice when someone gets canned - including when Pete L got turfed.

No on is rejoicing or losing sleep over the poor state of the FAN 960. Many people are just tuning out because they aren't happy with the product. This ultimately falls on the producers and the hosts for not delivering.
You also really haven't explained why you chose to vocalize how apparently poor of an opinion I have for saying steinberg sucks and should be turfed when there are countless posts making reference to bryn sucking and needing to be turfed as well.

It is just when I chose to step into the conversation. Believe me I have been tempted for some time.

Well when you want to listen to sports radio but find it completely intolerable with Griffiths talking the only solution is to hope, wish and pray for Griffiths to be terminated.
The guy doing his job is causing us to tune out the station he works for. Nice people who underperform are fired all the time, this is market capitalism. I'm sure he'd rebound fine with his radio skills. What he sucks at is creating intelligent and interesting sports talk. That is the main component of his job from what I can see.
I am a potential consumer of their product. Their product is so poor that I no longer choose to consume it. I will complain about the performance of their hosts because I would like to listen to intelligent and interesting sports talk.
I get why you don't think we should be wishing for him to lose his job. Maybe they could switch him to something else in the station where he doesn't have to be an on air personality. But there's no point sugarcoating our opinions that the guy is a horrible sports analyst. I've quit listening to the Fan specifically because of Griffiths. I've complained to the Fan about his performance. I would like to see their product improved so that I can listen again.
It is too bad that it doesn't look like they will be improving it anytime soon.

There was a 20 minute stretch yesterday afternoon where Pat was going on endlessly trying to "figure out how Bryn felt about players going to Europe and possibly taking jobs from other players".
Most likely the most boring and awkward discussion ever had on any form of Calgary radio.
It was painful, repetitious and down right brutal. I can't fathom how much longer 960 can let those 2 carry on without doing something. Why not switch up some of the pairings or move Brynn over to am660 and let the guy who does traffic updates have a shot at the afternoon slot. I only see things getting worse the longer these guys don't have any real hockey to babble about.

Bryn and Pat were just talking about Lance Armstrong and Pat was talking about how Armstrong should own up to doping when the knowledgeable one Bryn jumps in with "well the only reason he admitted to doping was because he got caught"
Pat then tells him he hasn't admitted anything yet to which Bryn replies "oh he will"
Get this idiot off the air.

Someone who has been banned from a sports message board, is asking for a sports radio commentator to be fired?

Speaking as someone who has never been banned from any message board...
A few minutes after the Lance Armstrong thing, Pat and Peter are talking about how good a job Yankee's manager Joe Girardi has been doing and Bryn injects, 'Well he wants to do a good job 'cause he wants to stick in the playoffs longer'.
That's some excellent commentary there... get the guy off the air.

Guys. I have to tell you something. I really try to be supportive of your concepts. Sure, I make the occasional mistake. I just want to say when you ask for broadcasters to be terminated, you are really hurting people and their families. Of course, you are entitled to your opinion. I know all about that. Many people ripped me apart when I was calling games. None of you had the where with all to tell me to my face. Bryn I can assure you is a great guy. Maybe he isn't your cup of tea, but he has more experience than any other daily announcer at Sportsnet Fan 960. To ask for someone to be fired just isn't fair. CP is much better than that. I have met many of you and think this kind of stuff isn't right. That is one tough job he has. Especially since Pat is young and really just learning. I got it off my chest. It has been bugging me for a while. All I can say is when you are asking for people in this business to be released, try and picture yourself with the responsibility and task of working with young men and women learning the business. I have been in this game 35 years. Hired over 100 broadcasters and fired a few as well. It ain't pleasant that part. Think before you speak and be considerate. That is all I ask. As always, Rog

It's almost as if people tune in to the afternoon show just to hear if Bryn says something they can post about. Get a life and give the guy a break. Pat also eggs him on quite often and tries to spin what he says.

I own a small business in town. If I do a crappy job, I lose customers. If I do a crappy enough job, I go out of business. That's just the way it is.
I'm sure Bryn is a great guy, but he isn't doing his job very well. I basically don't listen to 960 anymore. I thought I would tune in today, to see what news there was on the CBA. I listened for about 15 minutes and gave up.
There are tons of forums where people can critique my business. We don't get a lot of bad reviews, but when we do, I evaluate them. If there is something I can improve, I do so. This is no different. 960 should take note, they won't be the only fish in this pond forever.

If you go into media, you must know that you are going to be in the public eye and subject to scrutiny and criticism. This is especially true with the advent of the internet and now social media.
I don't think anyone wants Bryn to not be able to put food on the table or pay his mortgage. Bryn plainly isn't very good at being on air talent at a sports radio station. He very likely has a spot in the business but his current role isn't it.

The problem is it is never magical. He never provides excellent analysis or insight into any issue. The problem is that we had Kerr before who actually was insightful. The problem is we get guests like Elliot Friedman and Eric Duhatschek who actually are insightful. In comparison he is completely outclassed and literally painful to listen to. Get him off the air if they want to retain customers. I've stopped listening to the Fan960 during the afternoons because of him. I use to be a pretty loyal consumer of their in house sports talk content.
