Looks like Reid is feeling the heat. He finally fired Juan Castillo. This doesn't bode well for Reid as you never, ever hand the keys of your NFL defense to an offensive line coach and expect anything good to come out of it. This is a sign that Reid knows his time is short. Honestly the defense is the only reason the Eagles have been able to win some of those tight games where Vick kept turning the ball over. The big problem has been the offense and QB which have Reid's fingerprints all over.

Eagles fans want Reid fired and this fan at ESPN summed up things nicely;

Quote:
Firing Castillo for the Eagles being 3-3 is like pooping your pants and changing your undershirt.

Former Eagle Asante Samuel responds to Castillo's firing...

Quote:
"Sometimes you have to blame yourself. You can't try and always point the figure at someone else," he wrote.

He followed that up with the following tweet: "I'm just saying... Aint no decline over here #riseup"

Yep, Reid is in full-fledged panic mode now. Looks good on him. One of the dumbest hirings in recent memory.

I still cant believe that Reid thought that Vick was a franchise type QB, i think sometimes these coaches think they are so good at coaching that they can turn a guy into a special player when he really isnt. i just dont see the Reid/Vick regime bringing a super bowl to Philly

Reid's arrogance is a big reason why the Eagles haven't been able to get over the hump, IMO.

I suppose to be fair, the year Reid made the move in 2010, Vick was playing at an MVP-calibre level. But it seems the same thing happened to him in Philly that happened to him in Atlanta by around 2004; opposing D's figure out how to play against him & keep him one dimensional. Reid started with 2002 Vick, and now has 2004-07 coach killer Vick, Jim Mora Jr could tell you all about that I'm sure..

I'd ask if Eagles fans regret trading away Kolb now, but considering what they got in return, probably not. Besides, can anyone actually say they regret losing Kolb? I doubt it.

Yeah Kolb wouldnt have been the answer either. the NFL falls in love with the atleticism of some of these guys, i.e Vince Young.. they seem to forget to take in account whats between the ears and in the case of Young or Vick, not too much...

Andy Reid may be a mediocre coach, but I can already see how this will play out. Nick Foles will probably come in and look like a franchise type guy, some moronic team (maybe even Arizona again) will offer a ridiculous overpayment for him, he'll turn out to be nothing special and the Eagles will stick with Vick in the future and pick up a few prime draft picks for good measure. He might not be a great coach, but he does know how to fleece teams (AJ Feeley anyone?) of picks for overrated QBs.

Browns sale to Haslam approved; Holmgren to leave

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/201...2_a4&eref=sihp

A person familiar with the sale told The Associated Press that Joe Banner has been hired as CEO of the Browns to replace Holmgren. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because Banner's hiring and Holmgren's departure have not been announced.

The fate of coach Pat Shurmur and general manager Tom Heckert, both Holmgren hires, is uncertain.

I don't see it. If the Eagles go with Foles and he plays well, they can't really go back to Vick or the fanbase will be out for blood. I really don't want Foles to play this year anyways. He shows a lot of potential and wouldn't want to see it shattered behind this piss-poor offensive line.

The Eagles really didn't do themselves any favours with that steaming pile of crap that was their 2010 draft class. Watkins is awful and they completely wasted picks on Jarrett, Matthews, and Te'o Neisham.

EDIT: Watkins was 2011. Graham was 2010. God, what an awful draft year.

Both coaches, teams and franchises could be on the brink of a major overhaul, I wonder who everyone thinks will go down as the best team never to win a Superbowl over this era, the Chargers or Eagles? At least the Eagles do have a Superbowl appearance, I believe the Chargers only made it to one AFC Championship game under Phillip Rivers.

Bleh, looks like Beyonce is going to do the Super Bowl half-time show.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/entert...21b_story.html

Sure she's hot, but is the Super Bowl really the right setting for her act? First the Black Eyed Pee's, then Madonna, now Beyonce... I thought the Super Bowl was mostly a broadcast for men?

You will likely watch regardless of who is performing at half-time, your wife on the other hand, may not.

Yeah, you got me there.

Although I made a $500 7/1 bet with my buddy 2 years ago that Guns N Roses would reunite within a 5 year period, and I am quickly running out of time; I had hoped that a show like the Super Bowl would force their comeback. Still 2 Super Bowl's left though!

The half time isn't for football fans. It's so the whole house is watching ball that day.

I remember reading that the SB audience is now 46% female.

At least there's finally a half time show with some talent. Beyonce is the one pop icon that, if I had a daughter, I wouldn't mind having her look up to.

Besides, half time shows are for beer runs and putting snacks in the oven haha.

i would think the Eagles, they had the talent and the game to get to 4 straight NFC champioship games, a break here or there and they could have been in the super bowl 2 or 3 times...... Whereas the Chargers always found a way to lose prior to even getting there.. Eagles were the best team to not win it all.

It doesn't really matter anyway. We will miss a chunk of the performance while we watch Canadian Tire and Home Hardware commercials over and over.
