Default Calgary motorcyclist video tapes and threatens "bad drivers"

This was in the funny picture thread not too long ago, but has since went viral and I think it deserves its own thread.

Quote:
The bike misses the pedestrian by centimetres, and only then because the clearly scared jaywalker leans back to avoid Elliot Hayward’s speeding motorcycle.

It’s such a close call, a single false step by the panicked man in the crosswalk and police would have been mopping up the remains of a dead pedestrian from a downtown Calgary street.
Most frightening of all: Hayward did it on purpose, to teach the jaywalker a lesson.
I'm guessing charges will be laid pretty soon and this will be sweet ironic justice.

I hope they don't lay charges.

Let him keep doing what he does. He'll either get his ass kicked. Someone is a big 1-ton diesel will drive over him. Or he'll kill himself when some idiot turns left in front of him.

He rides around downtown. One of my biggest motorcyclist pet peeves. Those and riders who hang out, with their heavily modified bikes, outside coffee shops all day, instead of riding them on the type of roads they were meant to be enjoyed on.
The loser probably has massive chicken strips.

This Jack arse sure thinks he is special.

He comes across as the type of guy that will get himself hurt real bad.

That biker is an idiot. Does someone honestly expect a pedestrian to wait at an empty intersection until the light changes? I don't. Obviously as a pedestrian you should move quickly out of an intersection if a vehicle does approach. But it's pretty much impossible to anticipate a motorcycle coming out of an alley and buzzing your face when that happens in less than 3 seconds.

Probably said jaywalker had checked that no vehicles where coming, started crossing, head down with headphones on, and didn't notice the bike come out of the alley. If you jaywalk, I agree, you need to get out of the road asap.

I would personally prefer that some innocent person doesnt have their life ruined by running into this guy. Even if it wouldnt be their fault, if you kill a motorcyclist, it's going to mess you up.

This is so wrong in so many ways haha. Isn't the best part about a bike is that you can avoid people easily? Why does it bother him so much?

Also, he's driving downtown. If he did that to me I'd simply run up the block to the next intersection where he'd be stopped in traffic waiting for yet another light ha.

In many cases it seemed a driver had already begun their maneuver before he whipped out on to the street, accusing them of cutting him off.

His bike can hit 100 kph in under 3 seconds. Who the #### expects that in a busy urban setting?
I'm the first to defend most forms of 2-wheeled hooliganism, but this guy needs to die off.

Exactly. This guy is making wild, unanticipated moves in traffic at high speed. You cant expect people on foot or in cars to be able to accommodate that.

"That big truck looked right at me and cut me off!!"

No he didnt, he saw the bike but probably didnt anticipate the rider gunning the throttle to cover the distance in the blink of an eye.

i loved the couple of times he slipped between cars that were all heading the same direction. also loved the random finger given in the first few minutes of the video. had to laugh at the fact his phone/ipod was on a cradle right off the handle bar - are you texting and cycling at the smae time dude?

his only beef has to be witht eh guy in the pickup truck that supposedly looked at him and then turned in front of him.

as for these folks that want to paint calgary as bad drivers, we are no worse or better than drivers in Toronto, wpg, Vancovuer or most toehr cities, it is the same stuff everywhere.

it will be funny if the po-po give him a ticket or something.

This tool is just as bad, or worse, when it comes to driving, than everybody he rages about. He speeds, he weaves in and out of traffic, he makes sudden lane changes and changes lane 3 at a time, he drives between lanes and vehicles, an the list goes on... He's an accident waiting to happen.

If the cops get this guy, they'll have lots to charge him with. I suspect he'll lose his license for a significant period of time.

The close drive by of the pedestrian will be enough to get him a large fine, lost licence or jail time.

Definitely could get a racing charge, amongst other potential charges people have mentioned.

I dunno man... I LOVE Calgary (and already proudly refer to myself as an Albertan... I lived in Ontario for 13 years and denied, with extreme intensity, that I was Ontarian for all of those years. I hate Toronto hate-speech style.
But... I find drivers around here are horrendous compared to Toronto. I'm sure Toronto has more bad drivers but, per capita, Calgary seems a lot worse since the crap drivers stand out more easily.

I'm sure 90% of Calgary's poor drivers are from either Toronto (or a country that doesn't have traffic lights) to begin with, so native Calgarians need not accept the blame for the reputation.

I've put 5,000 km on my bike in the city and I think most drivers are pretty good at giving me space and driving respectfully. Mind you, I don't drive like a complete jackass looking for a fight. I'm usually moving faster than the flow of traffic so I don't ride in someone blind spot and I'm cautious in intersections.

I can't believe he still has the video up for people to see.

Did he not catch this viral news story from 2 years ago, and realize what the cops did with this guy, based on what he posted online?

I think he may have a real beef with Calgary drivers and pedestrians but he isn't helping with his shenanigans.
