Interesting tidbit:
The iPhone would cost $0.41 to keep at full power with normal use for one year vs $0.53 for the Galaxy SIII

So 12 cents either buys you a terrible phone, or a hooker in Edmonton.

Just a terrible phone?
Now you're not even trying. I thought you apple people were supposed to be witty and clever?

I heard witty and clever come as an upgrade with the iPhone 9.

It's worse than you think. I needed the joke to be pointed out for me.

Didn't somebody recently say "they finally became a man" with one phone or another? Not really sure how that works but I guess people worry that much about it. Kinda like making sure you spend over 100k on a car or something?

That sorta summarizes this entire thread though.

I wonder how many people are thinking similar things?
Quote:
Back in 2010, the iPhone 4 was clearly the best phone to get. Sure, there were hiccups with the antenna, but I never experienced those—and I got a free bumper out of the resulting scandal. Today, I'm left scratching my head and wondering what the heck to buy. Maybe that's a reflection on the smartphone market's maturity. Maybe it just means there are too many good phones to choose from. But I'm a little more pessimistic; I think it means Apple has gotten too complacent, and because of that, there are no clear winners anymore.

I wonder if its the tech nerd in me that dislikes iphones and macs. I like to customize, build and tinker with my tech stuff, its why I would never buy a mac and with Iphone vs Android its the big reason why I choose the latter.
I find a lot of my friends who use mac's and iphones just want something quality thats clean, simple to use and some of them do it simply out of it being fashionable. I work in a large IT company in Iceland and android is by far the most popular phone here, but in a office my friend works at which is a magazine everyone has macs and iphones.
My brother finally stopped buying Iphones with the release of 5 which he was deeply dissapointed in, and added to the fact he was blown away by my S3 he ended up buying Galaxy note 2 which he's in love with.
One of the comments he made too was rather telling, he was also tired of how creepy apple fanboys are getting and that helped turn him away from the brand.
I love ipods, Ipads, I think Iphone is an excellent phone but I honestly can't fathom why anyone would buy Iphone 5 vs all the other phones available today with the android system.

Its surprising how this myth keeps getting propegated. An Android (specificaly the S3) out of the box is as easy to use as an iphone. There is no set up to be done anymore so than an Iphone. The phone is just as intuitive. The App store work the same way. All of the main functions like maps, email, internet browser, etc are all pre installed and work fine.
It may have been true with the early versions of Android, and maybe the customizability of android leads people to believe you have to customize it but really iOS and Android are equally easy to use. Apple again has just really strong branding in this regard. Also once people get used to using an iphone and than switch things are done slightly differently so perhaps it is because it doesn't work the same as an Iphone the first day they use it they take it back and then perpetuate the myth that it is difficult to use rather than just different to use.

I'm talking widgets, custom roms, and the things you cannot do on Iphone.
Basic functions on both phones are of course I agree intuitive, easy and very similar.
