They said they're going to jump anyway even if the faceplate heater isn't working. They said they had the option of coming down in the capsule, it has its own parachute apparently.

Lol that would suck to jump down blind most of the way. Do all that and then end up missing the show.

Looks like it leveled out at around 122-123000 feet.... EDIT:... it's over 125000 now. Looks like they want to stop it there.
He's gonna do it.
He had the option of cutting the balloon off and parachuting down in the capsule... but that wouldn't be very boss-like.

I went for a 16.5 km run, got home, turned on the tv and he's at 120,000 feet. Efficient use of time!!!!
I have the original National Geographic detailing the jump from 50 or so years ago. One of my favourite issues as a kid.
Should be interesting today.

Is that a view of the Earth from the module? Insane
edit: Also would have expected the outside temp to be much lower than -7.7C

Haha no, it switched to a shot of the Earth on the main feed, assume it's a camera at the bottom of the module.

It was much, much colder lower down. Something to do with the atmosphere up high, or lack thereof, iirc.
Came in short of the free fall record?

55 seconds of free fall feels like forever. I can't imagine what 4 minutes is like!

Too bad there was no helmet cam POV, although Im sure it was a little too fast to transmit. We'll probably see something later on where he's slammin back a pack of redbull in mid-air.

Ya, looks like 10+ seconds short of the freefall record. Wonder if that was the planned alt. to pull the chute or not.
