The OFFICIAL 2012 MLB League Championship Series Thread
Figured I'd get a thread started considering the ALCS starts tonight.
Who does everyone think we'll be seeing in the World Series?
My picks:
Tigers
Giants

Tigers dodging bullets so far, 2 innings in a row a huge defensive play gets them out of a jam.
These announcers are just gushing everything a Yankee comes up to bat, it's kind of annoying.

Fister is probably done after the ball hit him in the hand during the 2nd inning.

It went off his fist? So he's ok?

You wouldn't expect Tigers and great defensive plays in the same sentence unless the phrase lack of was in there as well.
Hoping for a NY and obviously St. Louis series but so long as the Giants don't luck their way to the title I think the other 3 are all deserving.

It went off his wrist and he appears to be fine, they had Smyly warming up but he never came in.

Giants found some luck in Cueto getting injured but they had the most impressive regular season outside of maybe the Yankees. They've got the best pitching staff in the NL and the NL MVP in Buster Posey.

Is there a more selfish player than A-Rod?
2nd and 3rd no outs down by 2, you're struggling, they're giving you a run, just hit the ball to the right side, how hard is that? He was not interested in that at all. Tried to pull the ball and missed 3 times.

Is it possible both these teams could lose this game? What a weird post-season. Such an exciting first round but two matchups that make me shrug my shoulders. The Yankees are having a tough time selling tickets, even to an elimination game 5. A-Rod getting booed, Granderson getting booed. They've swung the bat just god awful outside of the 9th inning in Game 1. The Tigers represent the league average in almost everything besides their staff ace. It's just a big pot of meh.

The old decaying corpse of A-Rod. I've always felt he was criminally underrated by those who gave him a "choker" label from the small sample size of some post seasons, his lifetime WAR speaks for itself and he's a first ballot hall of famer. He is a shell of his former self however, he is old and his skills are declining. This is not a matter of just not having it in the post season, it's a case of not having it anymore at all. Now the Yankees are stuck with a mess of a contract and a player who will continued to get boo'ed every at bat. Goes to show that their is a ton of risk in these bloated long term contracts, no matter who the player

I don't think they got lucky to win in the first round I just think with their lack of hitting and their pitching depth being neutralized a bit in the play-offs that they will have the toughest time winning it all.

Thankfully the game is played on the field, rather than simulations.

Their line-up seems a lot better than meh.

Well the game being played on the field sure does suck.

They were the definition of meh offensively over 162 games when we look at how they ranked in almost every offensive category. Not bad, not great, just meh.

I don't see their pitching depth geting neutralized at all now that they have home field throughout the playoffs. Their pitchers splits all are much better at home. Going Cain to MadBum in Games 1 and 2 at home makes it awfully tough on the opposing team. Their offense is pretty standard for the NL. I'd give the Cardinals a slight edge, but it's a short series, these playoffs have been so messed up already. This is a Cardinals team that left the door open for the Dodgers of all teams to take the last WC spot and then they just find a way. Carpenter is an ace in the hole like none other. It's beyond tough to explain the Cardinals.

Tigers win any game when Verlander doesn't pitch and it goes a long, long way. They can really shorten the series. NYY offense may be struggling in all phases right now, but still a hell of a job by Fister.
