I think they all have coloured jerseys but don't wear them in the playoffs.
Although Washington and Cincinnati both wore red today, and lost.

Great throw by Donaldson from his knees from third to first.

Yeah most teams have a coloured jersey, some like the Red Sox wear them only on certain days of the week.

yeah I think so..
That was a hard hit ball and with Smith a slow runner at 2nd, not sure Garcia needed to hurry that as much as he did.
But as I always say, baseball is a slow game until the ball is put into play, then a million things happen at once.

At least the Tigers would have a good shot at knocking the Yankees out. Can't see Oakland doing the same.

Disagree. Verlander is going today so Yankees would avoid seeing him in Game 1. Detroit does have the star power but Oakland is the better team and IMO would make for the much better story. Some great pitching matchups today.
Also, I think we'd all agree that Yankees series is far from over. YOLOrioles
edit: Never mind. Joe Saunders is going tonight. Yankees in 4

So was there any good reason for Showalter to go to his closer in that game other than...he's the closer? O'Day had a good 8th inning, and Johnson's pitched in every post season game thus far. Sometimes managers outthink themselves.

O'Day's pitched in every game too.
I think it's just a routine. Managers have 7th-8th and 9th inning guys all year, it's hard to switch it up. And Johnson got the save on Monday. Plus, I never trust sidewinders as closers, they lose control when it's tight and they can't get lefties out.
Would you go with Johnson again tonight with a 1 run lead? I think you would have to.

What Hunter Pence said to rouse the troops
http://blog.sfgate.com/giants/2012/1...-reds-pitcher/
As Flannery described it, “the Reverand Hunter Pence” said, “get in here, everyone get in here..look into each other eyes..now! look into each others eyes, I want one more day with you, it’s the most fun, the best team I have ever been on, and no matter what happens we must not give in, we owe it to each other, play for each other, I need one more day with you guys, I need to see what Theriot will wear tomorrow, I want to play defense behind Vogelsong because he’s never been to the playoffs..play for each other not yourself, win each moment, win each inning, it’s all we have left”

Man for as ugly of a ballplayer Hunter Pence is, that speech gave me goosebumps... After watching him hobbling along in Game 4, it really is remarkable that he is still in the lineup.
There really is nothing that beats October baseball, nothing.
Every series has something special going on it seems. The A's refusing to lay down (though they do get Verlander as a prize), the Giants clawing themselves back to a Game 5 on the road, the Orioles and their bullpen letting a possible three-game sweep slip out of their hands and now face elimination, and the Cards continuining to prove that experience trumps all.
Gimme October baseball all the way till April - the heck with the NHL, I've got my fix and am finding it more satisfying than these chums locked up in a boardroom.
PREDICTS FOR OCT 11:
Tigers (Verlander is just too much for the light hitting A's)
Baltimore (Saunders continues whatever he's got going on, forces a game 5)
St Louis (Lohse vs Detwiler - Lohse outduels in a tight ball game)
SF (Common, we need the "Fear the Beard" for awhile longer)

Pence just gathered the team in the dug-out for another speech. Posey is the leader of this team, but Pence is showing great leadership too.
How is Latos feeling today? Strikes out first batter Pagan.
Both teams strand two base runners in the first.
