I wouldn't count out the A's, strong pitching can do amazing things for a team with sub par offensive talent in a short series. It does scare me how this offense can just go into little slumps and strikeout at the rate they do. MLB playoffs can be like quick sand, especially with a night game to early day game like this one. Suddenly you're down 2-0, and still have to face Verlander.

It's the exact opposite to think Cabrera deserves to be mvp at all or that any voter should even think twice. The Triple Clown means nothing when any logical baseball fan would agree that both batting average and RBI's mean nothing.
Trout's WAR of 10.3 while Miguel Cabrera is at 7.1. Trout plays a much more important defensive position and played it better then Cabrera. In terms of stats that matter, Trout beats Cabrera every time.
What a comeback by the A's. All the momentum of this series just swung.

The disappointing part of this game for the A's, if they go to lose, is the fact that the bullpen has had all kinds of trouble today. This from the one area that the A's were better than the Tigers in. This bullpen has been almost flawless this year, until now. Need a big double play ball here.

LOL Cabrera played ine one of the worst divisions in baseball. Trout played in one of the most competitive. WAR is a great stat because it shows us just how many wins a player added to his team. Trout had the much better season, he's the most all around player in baseball right now

Trout might be the better all around player and he had an amazing year but Cabrera just took his team to the playoffs, division status doesn't play into it imo, and he won the triple crown. Something that hasn't been done since 1967, that is the clincher for me.

Triple crown means nothing to me. I don't understand how in 2012 batting average or RBI's can be given any merit. I think Cabrera came up to bat with something like 77 more men on base then Trout did. Trout was just and all around much better player then Cabrera this season.
Division status should mean something. The Angels had more wins then the Tigers! It should matter just for that simple fact. Indians, White Sox and Royals instead of the Athletics, Rangers and one of the best 2nd half team in the Mariners is without question worth nothing.

So Cabrera wins because the guys on his team are better than the guys on Trouts team? Or the Division is easier?
I don't understand the "lead his team to the play-offs" argument in baseball when really one guy doesn't have nearly that much impact on whether they go to the play-offs or not.
Unless you think that if you switched Trout and Cabrera that the Tigers would have missed out and the Angels would have made it in.

Been a weird LDS so far - I would have thought the Giants staff, and A's bullpen would have at least gotten them one win thru the first two games... Both are in tough, and can't see either team climbing back to win three straight games. Giants go on the road, and the A's will have to face Verlander once more - both tasks are nearly impossible.
I really like the Cards chances in Washington, Carpenter is a gamer.
My predicts for the LCS - Detroit/NY and Cincy/Stl

They still need to win two more here to take the best-of-five series. Suddenly the concept does not sound as laughable because the Reds have a pitching problem.
Game 1 starter Johnny Cueto has an oblique injury and cannot pitch. Mat Latos is so sick with flu that he barely could lift his right arm to shake a television commentator's hand. Manager Dusty Baker would not name a Game 4 starter to face Barry Zito. It could be Mike Leake, who was not supposed to start in the series.
No matter who pitches, the Giants need to divine a way to get some hits.
