I just received a contract position that requires me to use my personnel vehicle for work I get a gas card and a couple hundred dollars a month for maintenance.I was told I can write of the insurance cause I would be my own business I was curious if this was true and was curious how much of a percentage I would get in return come tax time.I was curious if I bought a vehicle how much of a percentage I could write off?

I am pretty sure if you purchase, you can write off the depreciation, but I'd you lease you can write off the entire amount.

If you want to get an idea of how much it would save you, you could always try out an online tax program like Turbotax etc that supports small business stuff. Since you are not filing you don't need to pay.

Lets you play with numbers and different scenarios and explains what you can and can claim.

any deductions will be prorated on a basis of personal to business use for the vehicle.

For purchasing the vehicle it will depend on what class of vehicle it is to deduct CCA.

Hmmm, since you are the 'MoneyGuy', perhaps just buy a new couch?

He didn't become MoneyGuy by buying new couches.

Should I permanently estrange myself from my extended family that didn't come to Thanksgiving today? Because man, it was sure nice to not see them.

Pilot light on a NG fireplace at my moms place keeps going out. Doesn't look like any pilot I have ever lit before. She says it is supposed to be an 'automatic' pilot, but I have no idea.

Who should I be calling to fix this? Furnace repair place?

Are there any pubs (preferably downtown) that have free live music on Fridays after work and on into the evening?

We need to upgrade the make-up air on our furnace. Does anyone recommend an HVAC guy to provide advice or a quote?

I'm pretty handy but when it comes to painting I know jack squat.

I have a stand up shower in the basement that is discolored in areas. It's not used all that much but I was thinking of touching it up and painting the inside of it, give it a fresh white coat. Anyone know a good paint product for a plastic stand up shower, and steps to take to prepare?

I don't know a product, but I wouldn't go to Home Depot for this. Go to a paint store where the employees actually know something about paint.

Might be a stupid question, but what do sports journalists typically wear to games?

EDIT - please don't say clothes.

Let me know if you find an answer for this. I've got a similar shower and I had never thought that painting it was an option.
