Turkey's parliament has authorised troops to launch cross-border action against Syria, following Syria's deadly shelling of a Turkish town.

This could be a hole new ball game.
I have not been following this story for a while.

I wish we could put up a wall so that whole area was isolated from the rest of the world.
Blah. Such a mess.

Interesting. Turkey is also saying they will not be involved in any kind of war and this is not a step towards war. However, I bet the Turks would love to have a "security zone" in Northern Syria.

I wonder if the initial shelling could be consider "an attack on one, an attack on all" in NATO speak. I doubt it, but I wonder the thoughts of other NATO countries.

The Turks already do this type of thing in Iraq, and the US has set a decent precedent of doing it in Pakistan.
It will be interesting to see if any raids actually come to light, but I don't expect either side wants war (particularly the Syrians), and this could be just a greater form of posturing in response to Syria's cross-border attacks that have been going on since nearly the beginning of the crisis.

Hmmm surprising move by Turkey right before Canadian Thanksgiving.
Strange Coincidence? Or is there something more to this? Discuss.

Anyone familiar with this? Are Syrian rebels launching attacks with Turkey as a base?
I saw a CNN vid about how the easiest way for "rebel" fighters to get to Syria is a cheap flight to Turkey then cross the border. Not sure why Syria would fire into Turkey unless it was a known rebel house of some sort.

There kind of is a wall, or at least a barrier. It's called the ocean. And the rest of the planet. Unless the Syrian war is somehow encroaching on your lawn, I'm pretty sure you're safe.

I believe they are indeed lunching sandwiched attacks with Turkey as a base, often then route via Stoufeng or Krenberry. Once they get to Syrah, its all about wineing the battle.

I wonder if the emergency UN sessions in Brussels sprouted any new ideas to handle the situation.
EDIT: Brussel sprouts! Common? nothing?

If Turkey does indeed attack Syria that might be the final straw that broke the camels back when it comes to Israel and Iran.
Iran isn't going to sit idle while Syria gets attacked and that might be the opening Israel is waiting for to launch an attack on Iran. Sucks if it happens but I know I'll be cheering for Israel to wipe out Iran. That would be the best end result of all this. Iran is the cancer of the Middle East.

Turkey already did attack (retaliate) Syria. They shelled a military compound earlier today. Syria apologized and nothing more will come of it unless another stray shell enters Turkey again. Or Syria shoots down another jet.

Doubt that happens. Only for the reason that it would essentially force Israel and Turkey into some kind of an alliance. Relations between Israel and Turkey have been awful lately.
The more likely result is that Syria's neighbours use security reasons as an excuse to pick apart the carcase and gain territory for their own.

I think the relationship between Israel and Turkey is better than it appears; Turkey's leadership must keep up the facade that Israel is the devil to keep their people in check. I would imagine behind the scenes Israel probably gave them the target to strike.
It always seems reasonable in the Arab world for Arab on Arab violence, Israel will always be held to a different set of rules.

I think you mean Muslims because Turks aren't Arabs and neither are Iranians.

I don't have any problem with the people. I hate their politics and I especially hate when the west gets involved.
