Well, schemes usually end up getting grounded because someone couldn't keep their mouth shut. You should definitely set up a sting with a Superstore Serpico.

Since self-checkouts are an abomination, I'm unsure whether to take a tone of moral outrage at her stealing, or congratulate her for hastening the day when such things are but a bad memory.

Huh?

I hear Libras are better at that sort of this. Actually, I have no idea what you mean by Scorpio.

I like the self-checkout. Except one time at Superstore there were two ladies who bought half the grocery store and two people in front of me and me started and finished our checkout and they were still there as I was leaving.

My local grocery store doesn't have them. But I feel like I'm walking into the 60s at it. Not that I know what the 60s were like, but when I go in I feel like I go back to what I imagine being the 60s. I wish they had self checkout, they have the world's most miserable cashiers.

I accidentally walked out of Superstore with a newer PS3 ($50 or $60) game. It got lost in my basket and I totally forgot about it when I went through self checkout.

Didn't want bad karma, so the next day I went to customer service and they were shocked and quite impressed that someone would actually come back and purchase it.

Theft — intentional or not — is up to five times higher with self checkout than when cashiers are working, says Malay Kundu, founder of Stoplift Checkout Vision Systems, which sells store video analytic software.

I never pay for bags at the Superstore self scan machines. This makes me a horrible person .

I accidentally walked out of Superstore with an unpaid bag of rice under the cart. I forgot to put it on the belt and the cashier didn't notice. I saw it in the parking lot and returned to the store to pay for it. I brought it back to the same cashier and told her what happened. She made a snotty face and told me that I was lucky that I wasn't charged with theft.

Definitely more soccer moms at Safeway than Superstore.

So i guess they do check their computers. I'm forwarding this thread to loblaws by the way..... hehe

I'm assuming that's the auto-correct version of "Serpico"

A bag of rice? You probably cost them more in manhours wasted by going back and paying for it.

The PS3 Game I understand though. I'm suprised you got out with it.

I watched a young guy help himself to several handfuls of cashews or something from the bulk aisle and just walk around and eat them while shopping. When he was done, he just went back over, grabbed another handful and continued on his way. It just irked me.

I thought about saying something something to him, or telling one of the Superstore employees, but it really wasn't worth the effort for the 2 or 3 dollars worth he might have stolen. It would've have made a difference anyways, as he saw me watching him do it, and didn't hesistate to do it again.
