It does transfer, the only caveat being that if you have only been registered for a short time. Shortly after getting my AB PEng I took an assignment in ON. Called about getting registered with PEO, and they said if I was less than 2 yrs registered in AB I would have to write the ON test.

I'm not sure of the context you're asking this under, and I'm not sure that a Wikipedia definition necessarily addresses that context.

However, I would say the answer is yes, under the condition that the geologist's professional experience includes a significant portion working in that field. I have a friend who falls exactly under that category, I would say he's a hydro geologist.

I came across this question while i was reading for the exam.
i tried searching the word geologist in the site of the engineers, it is not there, but why such a question unless as you said geosicentis professional engineer is working as a hydrologist.
But if it is the other way!! a hydrologist>>he can not claim the title profissional geoscintist

We find that part of the practice is done by hydro geologist.

But each one has a different governing body,

There's a great pdf book out there now at www.ppehq.com.

I spent just under $40 and didn't buy or read the APEGA books. Saved a whack load of time, passed the exam no probs, good quality notes.

I feel for the ESL's out there and don't know what to suggest as it seems the exam is a test of your english skills in a lot of ways.

Wrote the exam earlier this year. 2 weeks at about 2 hours a night of studying to read through practically all the material. Wasn't too hard but have to make sure you read the answers really carefully.

For people who have been submitting their applications for professional status recently, whats your experience on wait times? I'm going to be submitting mine next month but I've heard they're backed up and it's up to a 6 month wait. I get a raise once I show my employer I am a P.Eng so I'd like it sooner than later. Has anyone submitted their application before having the full 4 years experience (to get your application in the queue earlier)?

If you went to a Canadian University and are an EIT, and did your work experience in Canada under the supervision of P.Engs the whole time it should take between 1 month to 6 weeks. The way it more or less works is that your application is looked at by a person and they decide if it needs to go through the education comittee, the experience comittee or the ethics comittee for evaluation. If you meet the above it doesn't need to be looked at the 3 comitttees and will go straight to the registration comittee that meets once a month with a recomendation you be accepted. If it has some red flags and gets sents to the other ones then expect a 1 month delay per group that looks at it.

Also make sure your references send in the questionaire quickly after they recieve it as your application doesn't start being processed until they are in.

I submitted my application in may. Got all my references and such mid July, and been in the queue for 2 months. I tried doing it before the 4 years experience and my case manager refused to even entertain the thought. I might have don't something wrong though because I have heard of lots of people applying beforehand.

Hello Everyone

Just moved to Alberta after living in US for last 9 years.

I am going to take the PPE exam on January 20th, 2014. Got my admission ticket on Dec 24th, 2013. Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself.

I finished my bachelor in 2004 and master in 2006 and was working in US for last 7 years.

I am a P.E. from State of Colorado and, like other PE in US, had to pass the F.E. and P.E. exam to get my license from State of Colorado. I passed the FE in 2010 and PE in 2011.

Before moving to Canada a month ago, i submitted all of my documents for membership to APEGA. I submitted the application for the PPE exam 2 weeks ago and also purchased both the books in the same week.

That was a little background for this applicant.

Total 23 days are left for the exams !!! How is everyone doing on their study? (hope someone is reading this and able to reply....lol)
