obviously follow the medical advice, but pork seems like a good option, if you get the right cuts.....not sure sweet and sour pork falls into that catagory

Life's far too short to live it with gallstones. especially since the surgery is not much different than getting a tooth pulled.

I woke up Friday morning in indescribable pain. My wife asked my parents to drive me to Foothills (She had to get the kids ready for school). My dad was driving me from Citadel, and we had to pull over on Stoney Trail, so I could move, and scream in pain. Thats when the throwing-up started.

I don't remember the rest of the drive, but I walked into emerg (It hurt WAY too much to sit in a wheelchair), the nurses looked at me, could see the tears rolling from my eyes, and took me right in. They gave me morphine for the pain, and something to stop me from throwing up, and sent me for a CT Scan.

Doctor said I had one moving down that was the size of a BB, but it was jagged like a starfish, and another "still building" in my kidney.

They sent me home with some medication called Flowmax, and some percocet, and I pee'd that sucker out about 8 hours later.

I am just waiting for this next one to start moving out, but at least I am already prepared with meds.

Gall bladder pain is severe but only lasts about an hour or so of extreme pain. It's just something I will have to deal with for a couple more years until I graduate.

If I passed it I didn't know. I haven't had any pain urinating at all.

Apparently I have kidney stones too... not looking forward to when I pass a bigger one. Passed one small one at some point, maybe a second very small one recently.

How many people does this sort of thing affect? Is it like half the population? Or only 1% of us get to deal with this?

I had Kidney Stones as well and it was the worst night of my life. Did not pass out but wish I did.

Not always, I suggest you get an ultra sound and see if there are any really big stones. My second attack lasted 3 hours because a large stone got lodged in the tube(and it wasn't even the largest). I was freaked because morphine works for about 5 minutes on me for some reason and my body spits it out! Fortunately the ER doctor called in another doc and he made me a narcotic "cocktail" with demerol and a couple of other crazy drugs that had me asking "whats a gall bladder?"

Be very careful trying to live with something like this, there have been cases of pain like this causing a heart attack.

As for costs in the USA, A friend of a friend from New Hampshire went to Cancun and had the key-hole surgery for $1100.00 and recovered by laying on a nice beach for a few days...there's always options.

Do you have any links to medical journals for this? Not to be rude but I have never heard of pain causing a MI.

Kidney stones suck. Dood I feel your pain. I've had 3 surgeries in the last 7 years for kidney stones.

It got to the point where I was going to the ER once a year for them, and I wanted to find a natural solution.

Had one this last month, felt the pain, almost drove my car off the road, got home and cried. Next morning I went to the herbal store and picked up this herb called Chanca Piedra. And a kidney flush. And I passed it within a week, no issues. Went to the bathroom, felt a little pinch, and I felt like the weight of the shoulders got lifted off my shoulders.

Chanca Piedra is a brazilian herb, and it means stone crusher, it helps break down the stone. Depends on the size, but most of the time it helps smooth out the stone, breaks down the jagged edges, which cause all the pain, and makes it manageable to pass. It's not so much the stone causing the pain, but it's more the edges that cause the pain. But, the herb has also been shown to reduce gallstones as well.

I usually buy 2 bottles. First bottle I double the recommended dose for the first bottle, then I usually pass it near the end of that bottle, and then with the second bottle I use the recommended dose till I finish it just to clean out my kidneys, and I usually pass a few more shards during the second bottle.

Drinking water with a little bit of lemon in it will also help with kidney stones, as well as kidney stone prevention.

Aloe vera juice is another great thing to help heal the kidneys after you pass a stone.

If you google Finlandia, it's this herbal store in Vancouver they are a herbal pharmacy and have their own formulas for things, kidney stones being one of them, and I've had great success with it as well. They might have something for gallstones as well, you can call and ask.

It's an alternative to try, and I can say that it's worked wonders for me. I take it every second or third month for a month just to keep things good. I highly recommend it for people who suffer, or are suffering, from stones.
