Any Audio Guru's here?

My wife is a dance instructor. She is having to cut up some music for one of her students. Its one song with 3 cuts ( ie 0- 1min 29 sec , 2:35-xxx, xxx-xxx) . I am trying my hand at it. I have garage band but cant seem to figure out how to cut and splice together the master track. I am trying audacity. I have gotten the first 2 cuts and splices them together however there is just a subtle pause/break when at the point where I spliced them together. Does anyone know how to eliminate this? If you need to hear it I can try to email the file to you or something. Let me know.

Use crossfading to make a smooth transition between the cuts. I haven't used Audacity in awhile but this should help explain it.
