Also, while I believe that the aluminium present in my anti-perspirent will eventually have detrimental effects on my health, those effects are negligible compared the environmental toxins present in every day living.

There's two I's in aluminumum?

I recall hearing about this years ago. They thought ingesting aluminum was linked to Alzheimers. Not sure if it is or not. Antiperspirants have aluminum, deodorants do not.

You appear to not be making the distinction between anti-perspirants and deodorants. They aren't the same thing.

kind of on topic, but it sure seems harder to find deodorant-only these days. What's with that. I find the Aluminum products don't really work for me, in fact I actually believe I sweat more (maybe they just irritate things a bit). So I usually opt for just regular deodorant and can only find it in the Dove for men brand.
Mrs. Ace actually shopped through the entire selection at her local store and not one female deodorant-only on the shelves...all anti-perspirant.

I thought anti-persperant was bad just because it doesn't let you sweat (which we as humans are supposed to do). I didn't think it had anything to do with the ingredients.

I guess I just need to commission a biased study to conclude that I am not capable of perspiration just as I am not capable of growing facial hair and therefore have no need for antiperspirant.

Women just inject botox into their sweat glands now to deal with the pesky sweat issue... I am sure NO issues will come of that.
But yea, this is by no means new information, I remember in grade 4 (A LOT of years ago) we were taught about the possible connection with almuminum in anti-perspirant and alzheimers.

While aluminum in whatever might not be 'good' for you (I have no idea), I always find it funny that people focus on quick fix minutia while ignoring the big picture when it comes to health problems.
Many of these people eat like crap, have stressed out lives, get very little sleep, never exercise. They then get sick and claim 'hey, I bet it was the aluminum in my deodorant!'
A bit like getting shot and saying 'I must have been allergic to stainless steel'.
Blaming deodorant is a lot easier than looking in the mirror and making tough changes.

I always find it funny when people focus on the big picture while ignoring the simple quick fixes when it comes to health problems.
Got to start somewhere :P

Fair enough.
Another analogy might be someone who is drowning in a pool and blaming an extra shot glass of water thrown in. I guess my point being that many people use these things as excuses for decades of poor life choices.
I'm no saint by any stretch when it comes to health. But when and if I finally succumb to one of these diseases, I'll blame it more on beer, pizza, and late nights than I will on deodorant.
More to your point though ....sure, if someone finds that they become more health conscious in general after focussing on and eliminating the little things first, then all the power to them.

But we are not talking about deodorant, we are talking about antiperspirant.

There's definitely a lot of things in deodorant and more often antiperspirant that can cause rashes for different skin types.
But as far as making you sick or endangering your health I gotta think there is no real evidence to suggest that. Sounds like a lot of 'natural is better' bullcrap.

Does AXE have aluminum? I sure hope not. I'd hate to have to stop using it, for health reasons, and be forced to relinquish my awesomeness in the eyes of the opposite sex.

As a brown guy, benefits of antiperspirant outweigh the risks of not wearing it.
