Is that really surprising though? The surprising thing is that it wasn't unanimous by Alberta MPs.

Nenshi really needs to hit the federal trail and boot these cavemen and cavewomen.

I think you're misinterpretting what I'm saying. Had the Wildrose won, here in Alberta, we'd be debating abortion in this province, not federally. I sincerley doubt the party of the Hunspergers and Leech's of the world wouldn't have brought forth this debate (along with evolution and other things Jesus wouldn't like).

Nenshi has the potential for a great career. I suspect that he'll probably take the same route as McIver and jump into provincial politics first when he feels his civil learning has plateaued.

Although i would like to see him as Premier, he really needs to make the jump early because all these federal guys are pieces of crap.

No, we wouldn't have been. The province has no jurisdiction over the legalization of abortion so it wouldn't have been an issue.

Read the constitution.

Read the constitution.
Technically they could've made it an issue in AB, and tried to challenge it on division of powers, but that's kind of shooting for the moon.

This is true, but there are still issues like PEI, where abortions are legal, you just can't get them anywhere on the island.

Yup, it's still 2012 and you can't get an abortion in PEI.

Exactly. And the chances of that happening would be pretty slim.

Pretty disgusting that 30% of our elected representatives still believe in this crap.

Why is it shameful? She automatically needs to toe the party line? Especially on something as simple as a study?

The Status of Women Minister should not be anti-woman

I think you're confusing the views of a couple of candidates with party policy.

She's the Minister for the Status of Women and her voting yea flies in the face of women's rights over their own bodies.

Right. I guess I missed the previous study where it was concluded that being interested in a new study on the definition of life meant you were anti-woman.

Well their leader isn't toeing the party line. Why not use some logic instead?

Rob Anders voting incorrectly is balanced out by Rob Anders actually voting.

I suspect that too. No way in hell do the majority of Albertans support this bill.
Another example where MP's are voting, in a free vote, in accordance with their own conscience instead of representing the will of the constituency.

Unfortunately there isn't much we can do to change this.

Yuh, I was admittedly confused there for a moment...

Look, I wouldn't personally vote for the study- I don't have any interest in seeing any definitions changed... my point is that MP's should be able to vote as they please, regardless of their position in the party.
