I can't remember if I did the math a while back but I wonder if it is a density issue rather than just simple total weight. The S3 is roughly 1.6g/cm3. The iphone has always been more dense - 2.2 for the iphone 4 and 2.0 for the iphone 5.
Totally just a theory though.

It shouldn't be. Assuming you have the SIM it's generally there after activation.
And seeing it's the Nano sim, I don't know why you wouldn't.

Telus (well Koodo, but uses telus towers). Same coverage as Bell as they have network sharing agreements. (unless it doesn't apply to LTE).
The *ONLY* non LTE plan Bell has is the much grandfathered unlimited data one..(not sure why, but this is confirmed on howardforum)
every other plan even though it says isn't LTE is LTE.
Funny, in Chinook mall...no LTE. Step outside the mall, within 5 seconds have LTE. lol

It's definitely more sensitive to buildings and whatnot - it sits at the upper end of the old UHF frequency band, so it amazes me you can get LTE reception at all inside most buildings (I don't know how many people remember what it was like trying to get UHF reception on a TV, but it wasn't fun).

Upgrade my 3Gs to iOS6 today, thought I would post some benchmarks:
Using Geekbench 2:
on iOS 5.1.1: 284
on iOS 6.0 : 275
Not that it means a lot, but man does it make the numbers from the iPhone 5 (and SIII) look real good.

Just wanted to thank everybody for their help with my LTE issue. Apparently the magic words to say to Bell is "Please put me through to retentions now." As of last night I am getting LTE; however like others have said not at home. Looks like the coverage map is a little optomistic.
As you said silentsim, I can't see why any of their plans shouldn't allow for LTE unless it is something like the unlimited data plan. Also yesterday I went through a lot of hoops to get my phone onto LTE; today when we called Bell for my wife's phone it was a lot easier.
The one thing I know I had going for me was the fact that as stated earlier in this thread I had to drop the "Allow Manitoba Roaming" feature. What that gave me was leverage; in that I explained that during the upgrade process I was told that had to be taken off my plan. If they had already looked at what features I had and made changes before they allowed the upgrade; they should have said something at that point.
So now on LTE I am getting 20-30 Mbps downloads on Speed Test; and 8-12 Mbps uploads. (One test showed 25 up- may have just gotten lucky on that one.)

Anyone else having problems playing YouTube from iOS6 on ATV through AirPlay?
Says it the device only supports audio over AirPlay.

Yeah, I don't get LTE in my house but cross the street and suddenly LTE.
I can also get it at work (inside a mall), but not on the Canada Line (makes sense, it's underground). But when it does work, LTE even >>> my wifi.
Earpods are nice and sound way better than the old earbuds, too.

Yes I have an iPhone 4 and it is giving the same message. My wife's 4S seems to be fine.

Traded in my 3GS for a 5 yesterday, and this is far and away the most delightful phone I've ever used. That's all I can say

iPhone 5 zooms past the 5 Million mark. Despite the maps misstep, looks liek the 5 is going to be a huge success. Now the question is whether Apple can keep supplying it at the clip it needs to.

Apple Inc. sold out of its latest smartphone, with more than five million iPhone 5 sold in the three days since it hit stores, the company said on Monday.
The early total blasted past sales of the iPhone 4S, which sold more than four million units in its first weekend after Apple introduced it in October, 2011.

Or for a different take:

Over the weekend, the company outpaced the 4 million iPhone 4S units that it sold during last year's opening weekend, though the numbers are a bit skewed. This year's iPhone was simultaneously launched in the United States, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore and the United Kingdom, while last year's launch did not include Hong Kong and Singapore.
Investors viewed the iPhone 5's opening weekend as somewhat of a disappointment. Wall Street analysts had anticipated a slightly more robust opening weekend, with most projections in the 6 million range.
Shares of Apple (AAPL, Fortune 500) fell 1% in early trading.

Yeah, I went from an 8 gig 3GS to a 64 gig iPhone 5. Quite the jump from one extreme to another but very worth it. =P

One of the reasons, besides being a cheap #######, I hold off on the newest phones year-to-year is because I love jumping from a 2-3 year old phone when I get the newest one. Going year-to-year you always just incremental jumps...going from an 8gig 3gs to the 64g LTE 5 is going to be a good jump.

Yeah, they count sales differently than many other companies versus their "shipped" numbers.
http://tech.fortune.cnn.com/2012/09/...ts-are-saying/
"We expected 6-8 million over the opening weekend... Clarification - recall the 5mil+ iPhone 5 reported sales only takes into consideration: 1) what was sold into partners (e.g., retail outlets, carriers, etc.), 2) sold in AAPL retail stores, and 3) direct to customers only if they signed for the device. Importantly, this doesn't take into consideration units in delivery direct to customers (i.e., AAPL must have signature of acceptance by customer before it is counted as a sale) and we estimate units in transit could be in the millions currently.

The company that makes Apple's iPhones suspended production at a factory in China on Monday after a brawl by as many as 2,000 employees at a dormitory injured 40 people.
The fight, the cause of which was under investigation, erupted Sunday night at a privately managed dormitory near a Foxconn Technology Group factory in the northern city of Taiyuan, the company and Chinese police said. A police statement reported by the official Xinhua News Agency said 5,000 officers were dispatched to the scene.
The Taiwanese-owned company declined to say whether the factory was involved in iPhone production. It said the facility, which employs 79,000 people, would suspend work Monday and reopen Tuesday.
Foxconn makes iPhones and iPads for Apple Inc. and also assembles products for Microsoft Corp. and Hewlett-Packard Co. It is one of China's biggest employers, with some 1.2 million workers in factories in Taiyuan, the southern city of Shenzhen, in Chengdu in the west and in Zhengzhou in central China.
Order was restored after about four hours and several people were arrested, said the company, a unit of Taiwan's Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. It said 40 people were taken to hospitals for treatment.
The violence did not appear to be work-related, the company and police said. Comments posted on Chinese Internet bulletin boards said it might have erupted after a security guard hit an employee.
Photos posted on microblog service Sina Weibo showed broken windows, a burned vehicle and police with riot helmets, shields and clubs.
Phone calls to police headquarters and the Taiyuan city hall were not answered.

I'll be in New Orleans at the end of this week and may pick up an unlocked iPhone 5 and a SIM card. I imagine they're a bit cheaper there.
