Great debut by Büttner. A goal, an assist and a lot of poise and movement. A lot better than what Evra usually does. Great strike by Powell as well, nice to see the new guys get on the scoresheet immediately.

Depth is such a sweet thing to have.

Would've preferred if the lads didn't give Wigan so much room in the 1st half.
Lindegaard in again. I see Fergie is heeding my advice well
Kagawa & RVP spared. Hopefully they are ready for the big match this Sunday. Vidic still looks a bit out of shape. That'll come around. Nice to see Evans though.

Lesson learned, Fergie isn't messing around.
--------- De Gea
Rafael, Evans, Vidic, Evra
---- Scholes Carrick
--Valencia Kagawa Nani
--------- Van Persie
Saving Rio (bench) for 'pool this weekend.
Also, any takers wanna bet me Rooney is on the bench this weekend?

Hardly call that most important, but nice to see him. I'd be so nervous, I'd be sh@tting myself if I were in his shoes.

Irrelevant.
Moving on. With Liverpools midgets up front, and de Gea's showing, he starts Saturday. That double save was on point this afternoon against the Turks. There's less concern that LFC goes aerial and rains crosses, and with them trying to play Rodgers, "mini-barcelona" yes.. LFC LOL, I see lots of passing, and 20ish yard shooting that de Gea is world class at.

In the first match to be played at Anfield since the Hillsborough Independent Panel report was published last week, Vidic and Steven Gerrard, the two captains, will release 96 red balloons before kick-off as a tribute to the victims. The report cleared Liverpool fans of any wrongdoing and exposed the full scale of the police cover-up that prevented the real reasons behind the disaster from coming out before.
Having grown up in war-torn Serbia, Vidic said that he knows the importance of keeping things in perspective. "Football is important but it is never more important than life, any life. It doesn't matter if it's in England or Serbia or any part of the world. I think most important is that we have to respect any life and I think that we will do it on that day. We have our history and we have some tragedies as well, and we love people to respect the players [that lost their lives in Munich]. Obviously people from Man United have had tragedy and I don't think it will be different for Liverpool fans."

Manchester United supporters going to Sunday's match against Liverpool will be presented with a letter from Sir Alex Ferguson as they pass through the turnstiles at Anfield. The letter reads as follows:
"Dear Supporter,
"The great support you gave the team here [at Anfield] last season has seen our allocation back up to near-full levels. I want you to continue that progress today.
"But today [Sunday] is about much more than not blocking gangways. Today is about thinking hard about what makes United the best club in the world.
"Our rivalry with Liverpool is based on a determination to come out on top - a wish to see us crowned the best against a team that held that honour for so long.
"It cannot and should never be based on personal hatred. Just ten days ago, we heard the terrible, damning truth about the deaths of 96 fans who went to watch their team try and reach the FA Cup final and never came back. What happened to them should wake the conscience of everyone connected with the game.
"Our great club stands with our great neighbours Liverpool today to remember that loss and pay tribute to their campaign for justice. I know I can count on you to stand with us in the best traditions of the best fans in the game.
"Yours sincerely, Sir Alex Ferguson."

This cracks me up:
Quote:
"My patience for him is endless," Mancini said, when it came to further discussion of Balotelli's smoking habit.
"I haven't told him to stop. I don't smoke, I don't like to smoke.
"If he wants to smoke that is his problem. It is his life.
"If he wants my opinion it is better that he finishes. But if he smokes 10 cigarettes a day and scores two goals in every game, it is better."

BBC Radio 5 live commentator Darren Fletcher at Anfield: "A section of the Manchester United support have been singing: 'Where is your famous Munich song?" It is not the day for that."
Lacking class. But this should be to no one's surprise. With football, idiots abound.
