All of the work the city would do just to make transfers a couple of seconds shorter would be undone when the 8th Ave subway is completed.

it's too bad downtown couldn't be centre loading platforms, that would make for the easiest transfers would it not?

These minutes do add up and they can be the difference between someone opting to just drive rather than hop on the train or bus and train.

Until that days comes, which might not be for a while if the proposed time frame is approved, people are still going to be making that transfer. Although City Hall station's role as an interchange station is not a life long commitment, it is not a band-aid solution and the same would be said for the bridge.

That would be the best option but I believe that wasn't possible due to the proximity of the switches.

the first station could have been at olympic plaza instead of city hall. it's literally across the street and would be no more inconvenient.

changing to centre loading platforms would require moving the tracks, and catenary, meaning that the station would be closed to all traffic for a couple of weeks minimum. The final station would still end up being pretty narrow, since you still would require sidewalks on both sides of the road.

Probably an obvious answer but with CTrain Service, why would they be running BRT from Saddletown to the UofC.

Shouldnt people just be able to take the train to downtown then transfer to the one to UofC? Seems like a waste of money to run the BRT in that instance.

What's the route number?

Calgary Transit runs express buses during peak times for MRU as well. Despite the route 20 and route 72/72 going from Brentwood LRT to MRU they still runs BRT's during the morning and afternoon commutes. Routes 181/182.

It's not just about getting people from Saddletowne to the U of C. Mostly its for a BRT on 16th Ave. 52nd Street and the U of C are just good end points. The idea behind going up to Saddletowne on the 52nd Street end would be to put additional use to any BRT Upgrades they would do along 52nd Street.

I guess they track the numbers better than I guess at them but living within a block of 16th Ave the number of people using a BRT from the NE would be going to SAIT, NorthHill or UofC all of which are accessible by CTrain.

Yes its not a direct CTrain line but the cost of the CTrain line is fixed and every new passenger reduces the operating cost where as starting a new BRT likely doesnt add very many new paying customers (I would guess).

I am just surprised a BRT would cross Deerfoot at all.
