I'm old enough to remember Chinook when it was a much smaller mall, and you had an outdoor courtyard you walked out to, to get into the other section of the mall. There was a hobby store on the lower level that I used to go to as a kid and spend my allowance.

And woodward's food floor had a conveyor that sent your groceries from the checkout underground to a depot in the middle of the parking lot where you'd pull up and they'd load the groceries straight into your car.

Seriously, in this city inner-city dwellers get pretty financially screwed so it's no wonder people flock to the suburbs.

I and my $5K for 1800 sq/ft property tax have to thank this Hulk. The last part of this post couldn't be truer.
Yet I have to defend the $25 mill peace bridge constantly to my $100 mill 22x exchange upgrade friends in Cranston.
EDIT: Sorry, back on topic...

Eighth Avenue Place is 49 stories tall, and right around 1 million square feet. Definitely need someone to explain to me how Chinook can possibly add 1 million SF.

That looks almost identical to South Coast Plaza Mall in LA:

By building a big, short box full of stores and a condo tower.

Insane! i will never step foot in there ever again.
I don't care if it's the #1 mall in North America in sales. It's number 230127493274 in terms of parking and easy access.

It is in terms of sales per sq ft. Market mall is in the top 5, hence the insane rent both places ask for. I think it's close to $200/sq ft.

Are you kidding me? You guys have the coolest parking lot in the world. It actually shows you where there's a free space.

I think those are wrong about free spaces as often as they are right.
At least the new parking is heated though. Thats a godsend.
