Any word on what's going on with Carolina? I believe Jobo said he's unable to change his games to allow us to play his CPU. Does this mean all of our games automatically sim against him? Sucks if that's the case, my team is brutal on paper.

Yes, the Commish can't change that, only the GM.
I believe the Carolina guy said he's in the hospital or something? Unlikely he can change that by tonight, especially if its after midnight there right now.
That means my game against him will be simmed as well, and I have a giant hole in my top 6.

BLOCKBUSTER TRADE ALERT!
TSN has learned that a blockbuster of a deal involving ten players is just being submitted to NHL offices as we speak.
The Los Angeles Kings have traded star D Tyler Myers, D Brent Burns, LW Alexander Semin, RW Teddy Purcell, and D Jakub Kindl to the Ottawa Senators.
In exchange the Senators have traded defenceman Ryan Suter, D Josh Gorges, C Travis Zajac, C Tim Connolly, and LW T.J. Galiardi to the Kings.
Los Angeles Kings GM Stealth22 spoke exclusively with TSN just moments ago. "This was a deal that was in the works for a while, but came together very quickly. We had been talking strictly just a one for one or two for two swap, and today Ottawa came us with this proposal. We needed to boost our top 6 badly, and we were offering Brent Burns in order to do it. We also were looking to move Alex Semin, and Ottawa was looking to move Tim Connolly. These are both skilled guys that could use a change in scenery. Travis Zajac and T.J. Galiardi were two guys that I had my eye on when I first started talking with silentsim, who's the GM in Ottawa. Both are guys that will fit in well in our top 6. We hated to give up Tyler. He is going to be a superstar in this league, and he's still very young. And Ottawa understood that, and they were willing to give up Ryan Suter in order to acquire him."
He continued on to say that Myers and Suter were not the center pieces of the trade. "I asked if they would do the deal without Suter and Myers. He said yes, but he couldn't make it work under the salary cap with the moves that they had made. I said 'Fair enough', and we did the deal. We sincerely believe that this trade makes our hockey club better."
When asked if the L.A. Kings were done making moves, he chuckled and replied, "For now, maybe. But a GM would be lying to you if he ever said every guy on his team was untouchable. Unless of course, you have 23 Sidney Crosby's."

Crazy deal!
At the end- getting 22 y/o Tyler Myers is a great piece. Also getting puck-moving Dman Brent Burns is huge. This gives me 2 bonafide puck moving defensemen who will play BIG minutes.
Alexander Semin is incredibly skilled, and I don't find him too big of a downgrade over Zajac. His motivation has always been questioned, but he will bust it for the Sens. Teddy Purcell is also a great fit on the senator team.
Acquired Kindl as I think he will be a solid depth defensemen for the Sens, and losing Galliardi is OK as we filled his role in a recent acquisition.
Prior to this deal, the Sens made other moves to make this deal possible. We really wanted to improve our Defense, particularly into puck-moving defenseman.
They include:
Brandon Dubinsky+2nd for TJ Oshie and a 4th.
Trading Milan Lucic, Rusty Klesla, and Winnik for Andrew Ladd, Alex Goligoski, and Derek Brassard
Trading Puempel, Blum, and Trevor Lewis for Curtis Glencross, Jordan Leopold, and Brian Boyle.
We think this gives us a formidable crew of puck moving Dmen, with the likes of Myers, Burns, Leopold, Goligoski
We also plan to win games by running 3 competitive lines, rather then loading up one line.

The Los Angeles Kings normally would not have wanted to lose Brent Burns, but in an earlier trade with Toronto, the Kings acquired D Keith Yandle in a deal that sent G Jacob Markstrom and a 1st round pick to the Maple Leafs.
The Kings also got younger by trading Valtteri Filppula to the Dallas Stars in exchange for young center Patrik Berglund.
This gives us two decent scoring lines, a younger scoring line packed with the talent of Devante Smith-Pelly, Luke Adam, and Brett Connolly.

While trades are fun, I sure hope there aren't trades like this every week, especially with the same teams.
I understand people want to mould their teams right now as we had no control over who they got, but I hope this doesn't desolve into a league where trades are done just for the sake of trading. I have been in fantasy leagues like that and they suck.
Just my opinion of course.

First week always has a lot of trades IMO, people want to bring players they like to their team (at least I did!)

I hope that is what it is. I like trades, but not just for the sake of trading. I liked the trades that I have seen so far, I just don't want to see guys playing for 4 or 5 teams in a season.
Maybe it's just me?

I know in my case I will not be making nearly as many trades now that I've got guys that I wanted on my team, unless I see a hole that needs to be filled.
I enjoy trading in fantasy leagues and this takes it 1 step further because you are actually using the players you acquire in game, and you may or may not like how they play with your play style.

Agreed. I will look at more trades if the players I got don't work out. But on the whole the core of my team is set now.

You have to factor that some teams got a great surplus of players compare to others; as well some teams have weaknesses that they're looking to improve on. Since we didn't get to select our own players, got a lot of players we can use as assets to improve spots on our teams, or just looking to improve overall, it has created this high amount of trade activity.
Doubtful we ever have a pace like this ever again in our league.
Anyway, the league has advanced to the next week. Trade and Free Agent offers have gone through, and the next round of games are now up. Next advance date will be Sunday, September 23rd.

I will be looking foward to the post.
Will this period run through Saturday and roll over Sunday morning? This weekend is insanely busy, in a golf tournament tomorrow and then going to the London Knights home opener, Saturday another golf tournament and will be out drinking with work contacts afterwards. Sunday, well it's NFL time!
So..... whoever is on my schedule, I hope you are ready to play tonight!
